  1. I received all of my admission decisions and I am very happily going to St. Cloud State (not having to choose definitely relieves some stress)! I hope everyone does well in their endeavors and gets into a school that suits them! ~Sandra p.s. I think it's great that you can see peoples stats on the results page now by dragging over the red diamonds.
  2. Phew! I got into St. Cloud State, and received a scholarship! I am so happy to have gotten in. Good luck to everyone else!
  3. Tayfray, did you hear from the U of M? I hope you have better news than I did.
  4. This is my pumpkin, Sydney. and again.
  5. So, I get a very small letter in the mail from a university that had a deadline two weeks ago. First thing that comes to my mind was wow thin envelope, that was a really quick rejection. A little pessimistic I know! So then I open, it states the graduate school has recommended me for admission, BUT the application still need to go through the department. Ahh, why would they even send me this. Maybe some people would like to know, but this just means that I freaked out for nothing. Of course I got admitted through the grad school, I met the required GPA, GRE etc. Why would they do that? lol.
  6. I was in a similar situation and this is what I did: I asked a professor that I knew fairly well to right a LOR. The class I took with him related to my research interests. I discussed my research interests and also gave him a copy of my related research paper. Although I never worked with him, from the information I gave him, and his history with the topic, he was able to assess my skills and ability and give an ostensibly good recommendation.
  7. I haven't heard anything, and I keep checking the "results" page as well. I had a miniature anxiety attack when I saw that someone from U of M applying for SLP was rejected. It didn't occur to me that it could have been a PhD candidate until I got home from work like two hours later, which of course it was... ha!
  8. I just saw this, you go to your profile, by clicking on the down arrow in the upper right hand corner by your name. Then, click on "edit my profile". On the next page, there is a "change signature" button on the left hand side. Hope this helps.
  9. There are some seriously good applicants here! I am excited to hear from everybody when decisions start arriving!
  10. Hi. My GPA is 3.7 (I majored in psychology). 1300 GRE (730 math, 570 verbal). I have quite a bit of research experience (6 years), 4 of these years, I have been out of school. I manage a group home for adults with autism, which is where I developed a passion for SLP.
  11. I am going to celebrate by going to a french restaurant, La Belle Vie, that I have not been to yet, because I am saving it for a very special occasion. I am going to order and extravagant meal and delicious drinks. What the heck, I am going to be in debt very soon anyways. Oh and I will do this even if I have to go by myself.
  12. I am happy that I didn't have to use csdcas. It sounds like the idea is a good one though, in theory. My LORS finally made it in! Now just waiting and obsessing.
  13. I guess I should start. I am applying to 3 schools in Minnesota, St. Cloud, Mankato, and the U of M Twin Cities. I am hoping to get into the U of M. I was a psychology major and I have been out of school for 3 years. I have been a manager at a group home for adults with autism, which is where my passion for speech and language pathology grew. My major frustration with the application system is the letters of recommendation. The system could use some fixing and I have had issues with one procrastinating professor who I am still unsure that he will get his letters in for all of the schools. This would seriously make me mad since I have been working on getting into grad school for at least 6 months, not to mention the amount of money it costs to apply. I hope this time goes fast! I can't wait to go back to school (if i get in)!
  14. Hello SLP applicants, What schools are you applying to? What school do you want to go to? Any exciting news or frustrations along the way?
  15. I have been there. It is a stressful test and it goes by really fast. I think you know that there is nothing left to do at this point, except to just keep on moving with your applications, ensure that all other areas are as good as they can be, and just hope for the best. Even with perfect everything, there is no assurance that you or anyone will get into the "dream" school. Hopefully admissions sees something in you as a candidate that would be valuable to their school, which is more important than a test score. Good luck!
