Every day I wake up at 6am EST and check the time in Idaho and go "okay, it's far too early for them to send anything now," and then check it periodically for the rest of the day wondering what they're up to two hours in the past.

I think I'm good waiting to hear from the waitlists until April 15th, that makes sense. I just want to hear from the schools I still haven't heard from yet! I want to know what all my options are!

Ole Miss is four fiction writers and four poets per year.

Has anyone reached out to Boise State and asked them if they're putting out decisions soon?

Yes, Pitt is Pittsburgh. I appreciate that, I'm not on Draft. Yeah, they sent out an email to everyone who applied about funding being paused. I guess I was assuming they'd unpause but maybe that's not true. Sad.

That's a great idea! I'll float that by my recommenders, see what they suggest. I was going to ask my best friend Leslie Epstein lol what he thinks of the programs I get accepted to, but I don't want to do it yet. He's always brutally honest, so that's helpful.

I haven't! Miami said I was top of the waitlist, so I really appreciate that, and I have family in Ohio. But I've really appreciated how communicative and responsive Ole Miss has been. Their program is REALLY small though, I'm wondering if it's too small for me. It's also really important to me I'm somewhere I can conceivably walk around, because I don't drive. Tennessee and Arizona both seem like such great areas. I have to do more research on all of them. I'm updating my recommenders today about my results and asking them if they think I should pick one and tell them they're my top choice. I also don't want to get my heart set on a school and then not get off the waitlist! I'm just not sure on the protocol, I don't want to bother the schools.

Good morning, I'm still here! I'm waiting for Boise, Pitt, and SIU still! I'm also debating currently if I should be picking a favorite of my waitlists and emailing them and telling them that if I got in I'd 100% go, or if I should just wait.

I have no clue. If there's nothing reported for fiction, I guess it'll leave it open on my insane spreadsheet tho!

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but does anyone know how much time a school would give you to decide if you want to accept a waitlist offer? I know accepted students have to decide by the 15th but what about if you don't hear until after the 15th? I'm realizing I don't know a lot about the minutiae of the process, I'm 25 and this is my first time applying for any type of grad school program.

Yes, from Melissa Ginsberg. My name is also Melissa so we're having fun with our "Dear Melissa... From Melissa" emails. That's exactly how I was feeling last night when someone else mentioned getting waitlisted, so maybe it's just taking a bit with all the emails.

I just got waitlisted at Ole Miss, they very nicely asked me to confirm I was still interested, what other schools I had been accepted and waitlisted at and am still waiting for. I know some people heard yesterday so maybe they haven't finished sending the emails.

Waiting on Ole Miss too! And Boise! It's not just Brown I'm thinking about.

I have nothing to distract me from this waiting, I fell off my train home yesterday (lol) and fucked up my knee so I'm remote. Please anything other than sitting and waiting.

Back from field trip. No news from Brown. In fact, no news from any school. Universe, come on, that would have been so ironic. Waiting on: Boise State, Brown, Mississippi, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, SIU, USC, WVU

I actually don't want Brown to come out tomorrow because I'm chaperoning a field trip with 30 high school kids all day, so good news guys, it'll probably happen tomorrow.

I also got my WashU rejection. I'll vote for Brown today.

The schools I haven't heard from are Boise, Brown, Mississippi, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, South Florida, Southern Illinois, South Carolina, WashU, and West Virginia. I know some of those would be soft rejects at this point, which is something I didn't know was a thing until I discovered this website, but I've keep them open on my spreadsheet still.
