  1. Hi. I went to a Top 10 public university, graduating about 5 years ago. I earned my BFA in a visual arts field. I unfortunately graduated with a 2.5 cumulative GPA, due to domestic violence, mental health issues, and issues with housing during my time in undergrad. My life has gotten to a point where I cannot get a job after being laid off, and I need to pivot my path towards a more practical and fulfilling career. I am looking to either get an MFA or a masters in education in either France, Germany, or possibly Montreal, Quebec. My fear though is that my GPA is so low that no one will take my application for either degree seriously, and I should just give up hope in regards to leaving the US and getting out of my mom’s house. I am currently working as a substitute teacher while waiting for different college admin jobs to contact me post-interview. I believe that getting relevant job experience in tandem with possibly doing some postbac work may help me in the long run. I am studying German and re-studying French as well. That being said, is it possible to get into an international grad program with such a crappy GPA from undergrad? And if not, what should I do to ensure I can show my expertise and talents in other ways? I’m also still working on my art portfolio, as that seems like a much more plausible route to become an art professor and working artist if I can’t get my masters in education. I appreciate all feedback and thank you dearly in advance!
