  1. Hey, Yeah, I saw that too, and emailed the coordinator at CMU to ask. Haven't heard back, but assume that maybe they figured out that we can see, or they're starting to process letters now and no longer need that designator to help them 'sort' things in slideroom...my hopes are not high, but I'll let you know what I hear back from CMU.
  2. Have your checked your slideroom? Under "program' on the 'dashboard' page, mine said "2011 Eliminated" If yours doesn't say that, you might still be in the running!!
  3. Thanks for this!! Can you look up Cornell SUNY Purchase Brooklyn College Penn Design University of West Viriginia
  4. yes, that's what I was going by--seems pretty unequivocal, but I haven't yet gotten a formal letter of rejection. i'm too shy to call or email them, but if someone else is up for doing that, please let the rest of us know if that is, in fact, what 'eliminated 2011' means.
  5. @eleven posted that he/ she had heard from VCU for a phone interview, but I'm not sure which concentration. i'm waiting to painting/ printmaking as well, and starting to lose hope.
  6. Oh...are you painting/ printmaking for VCU? If so, I guess I should assume I didn't make the first cut. Sad...
  7. I think this is actually totally different for each school--it sounds like at Columbia, it's "RJ" or something if you were rejected (although I think that's still unconfirmed). Many schools might not post anything on slideroom. Carnegie Mellon had no separate application, everything was on slideroom, so it makes sense that they would post results on there as well.
  8. if you guys go to the 'submit' page (the last slideroom page) there's usually something on the right hand side about 'review'. that's where my carnegie mellon status said 'eliminated 2011' and 'deadline 2/18' which i think means that that's when they entered the decision.
  9. hm. well, i'm holding on to a scrap of hope until i get a letter...i have three other slideroom apps and they're all open--but i suppose there's always a chance that 'eliminated' might mean that the application cycle is closed or something. (no, probably not, but here's to pathetic hoping...)
  10. It's where it says 'program'--all of my other slideroom apps still say "MFA 2011" or similar. CMU now says MFA Eliminated. Bummmmmmer!!!
  11. I just checked my Carnegie Mellon Slideroom portfolio, and the program heading now says 'eliminated 2011' which i imagine means 'rejected.' wondering if other CMU applicants have same/ different status or if i'm interpreting this right...?
  12. For those with a Purchase interview on the 9th, are you planning on bringing any work? The email said we could, if we wanted, but no space to hang it...I'm undecided. I emailed the coordinator and she said that most people don't, but it's up to us.
  13. Also applied to Rutgers and Cornell and haven't heard anything. Wouldn't freak out quite yet. I think Rutgers has a later timeline from what I've seen from previous years.
  14. hi! how did you hear from them? did you have an interview? from what i know, at least painting definitely interviews finalists. i have visited, but sadly it was when i thought i wanted to study photo, so i only toured the darkrooms, etc. from everything i've heard, the facilities are great, though, and i grew up in charlottesville, va and am therefore very partial to VA in general.
  15. any word from VCU (painting/ print) or Cornell?
  16. I only had terry adkins (not 'only'--he's one of the coolest people ever!) but matt freedman couldn't make it for some reason. it was nice to chat one-on-one, but because we didn't talk about my work at all i ended up feeling like it couldn't have been too helpful for him. oh well.
  17. Purchase College interview on March 9th. Via email today.
  18. who were your interviewers? that's great that they asked about your work--mine didn't at all, which was sort of a bummer: i was prepared to talk about it, but couldn't figure out a way to do that because the questions wouldn't really allow it...
  19. I had an interview with Penn, and my sense was that they were calling lots of people, just to get a quick sense of us: there was a 10 minute time limit on the conversation, and they only asked two questions (Why Penn an which artists would you recommend for visiting artist lecture series?)--at least that's how mine went, and my understanding is that that was relatively standard format. Not much talking about our work. They may have been calling people they were on the fence about/ needed more info about--not sure. I wouldn't read too much into getting or not getting an interview there, at this point. Hope that helps--and if anyone who had an interview there feels differently, holler.
  20. I work in undergrad admissions, and I always appreciate it when someone thanks me for my time--I wrote a couple lines to the Penn folks after the interview and I think it's a great thing to do, @wannaknow.
  21. Hi! You're the first other person I've seen who applied to WVU--what made you choose that program? I just applied, at the last minute, but actually don't know much about it. Also a printmaker. this is my site: http://lisadietrich.carbonmade.com/ would love to see your work as well!
  22. yes, I think they do--at least for painting/ printmaking. i'm waiting as well. i heard that they notify you in feb if you're a finalist/ will get an interview.
  23. Hm--I don't know if I'd assume that it's a bad thing: since the deadline was only 10 days ago, I'd assume that they're in the middle of the bulk of reviews now, and will be sending out interview notifications soon...just wondered if anyone had heard yet. Very strange that someone hear pre-deadline--!
  24. has anyone heard anything from Purchase? i know they interview march 9th but i have no idea when they notify...
