poetry or fiction? on poetry, I emailed Terri last week and got a brief update.

Update on Brown's Website as of 3/16/26. "In poetry and fiction, offers of admission have been made to nine candidates (five in poetry, four in fiction); sixteen others have been notified that they have been placed on a waitlist (10 in poetry, six in fiction). All others who applied to poetry only or to fiction only, have been notified of the university's regrets; those who have applied in two or three tracks will receive word only once admission decisions have been made in all three tracks. In digital/cross-disciplinary, the admission review process is still in progress. Once admission recommendations have been made by the department and reviewed by the Graduate School, Brown will notify applicants."

There is one UCI poetry waitlist response from early February. I'm assuming calls from their faculty for acceptances and waitlists are complete.

I haven't been rejected by Brown for poetry yet? I am under no illusion that I'm on the waitlist or anything. They never contacted me. Just funny not to have the portal update when everyone else has. Rougher cycle for me! Only one waitlist so far. Like many, had higher hopes. Fully funded MFA game is a brutal game.

It can feel like MFA apps take forever, then I'm like wait, no - I've waited a year to hear back from literary journals before for my submissions. I still have pending submissions right now from April 2025! The stakes are higher, though. Maybe time is warped by a sense of stakes? Time = distance divided by stakes? haha

Hi, Lurker commenting! Poetry & Fiction applicant (12 poetry, 5 fiction). Currently 0A/1W/1R/15P. I'm assuming U Pitt Poetry interviews are just later than past years? It's possible that no one interviewed is on draft, but that feels less likely than the odds of interviews being sent out late? More of a meta comment, but I am struggling with committing to March & early April plans. If I get an acceptance, I'd like the space to visit that campus and town in person. Holding my calendar for this unknown "possibility" is maybe the most frustrating part of this process. The Draft Sheet username of Edgar Allen Hoe is funny. No, that's not my username.
