Uneven funding can create a weird ambiance, but it depends on the program. For example, I was accepted to a program where not all students receive funding or assistantships, and the profs and alumni I spoke with said that surprisingly, the cohorts were kind and very supportive of one another, and the vibe was not competitive despite the different funding packages. But this is rare--in general, the advice I've received is to be cautious of unevenly funded programs. I'd recommend speaking with current students and alumni to get the full picture! -

I think they've sent out initial acceptances, but I'm not sure about other notifications Things might start moving more once people accept or reject their offers. Good luck to you! -

I've been officially rejected from Johns Hopkins (for poetry). Not too surprised or disappointed, though, because I heard people got accepted and waitlisted like a month and a half ago. It's funny how top choices can shift so much! Previously Johns Hopkins was tied for my top choice, but gradually another school worked its way into that spot, and I ended up getting accepted to that program. Almost like it was meant to be Good luck to the rest of you! Sending good vibes your way -

I am also waiting on a UNCG decision for poetry, but I didn't get an interview. Does that mean it's probably going to be a rejection? -

Does anyone know whether UNLV's program is fully funded plus a stipend, or whether the stipend is the full funding bc we'd get in-state tuition? Based on the website, it sounds like it's the latter, but I'm not totally sure -

Hi! If I'm fairly certain I'm going to accept a program's offer, do you think it's still the best course of action to wait until April just to evaluate all my options before making a final decision? I'm still waiting to hear back from three programs, and I'm on the waitlist of what was previously my top choice (which I told them at the time; I'm hoping it won't burn any bridges if they end up offering me a spot and I decline). The place I've been accepted has now become my top choice based on a number of factors, including recent interactions with the program's faculty and its positive reputation in the draft. I'm really excited about it and feel super lucky! But I also don't want to make the decision too too quickly. I hope that makes sense. -

Hi! In what cases is it appropriate to send a letter of continued interest to a program you've been waitlisted at? I was waitlisted at my top program a few weeks ago and replied to the email thanking them and saying it's my top choice. I never got a response (which makes sense because I didn't ask any questions), but I really hope they saw it and are keeping me in mind. Would it make sense for me to follow up and say it's still my top program and if accepted, I would immediately say yes? Or would that be seen as pestering them? Thank you! -

It could be wishful thinking because I also applied for poetry and haven't heard anything, but I think they've only notified fiction applicants so far because I feel like we would have seen at least one entry. Fingers crossed! -

How likely is it that we'll hear back during AWP? Also, I'd love to hear the ways you all are trying to keep calm. I've turned to poetry translation bc it requires such intense focus, my brain doesn't have room to obsess over MFA responses. lol -

You're not alone! The waiting is getting to me too. UofSC: I see 3 poetry acceptances (last week) and 3 fiction waitlists (today) Arkansas: a variety of results for multiple genres over the past couple weeks UNCG: a handful of interviews for poetry and fiction over the past couple weeks -

Congrats! I hope it works out for you! I'm currently waitlisted at one of my top top choices, and it's nice having the hope but also so nerve-wracking. Welcome to the panic haha
