BeeRuckus reacted to RockDenali in On Failure
After reading your blog, I'd say your proper home is with us rhetoricians, compositionists, and applied linguists. Ditch literature. Academic literary studies is nothing but a giant circle jerk. Do you really want to be someone who can crack a joke about "The Laughing Medusa" or talk for more than two minutes about post-colonial queer theory's relation to contemporary Caribbean poetry? Psh. Useless. The work you're doing has a place in the academy. Come on over to the rhet/comp pool. Water's nice and warm.

BeeRuckus got a reaction from digitality in UT Austin
Hey guys, I'm one of the admits (just posted a few minutes ago). I heard via email which appears (?) to be a form email, though it's quite long. Invited to orientation weekend at the end of March. Also, I haven't looked at the board but saw a comment from someone here re: 27k/year? The total value of the package is listed as approximately 27k (including the tuition waiver/health insurance), but the stipend itself is a little over 14k. Of course, it's always possible that someone got a giant fellowship, but since the email itself mentions 27k as the value, my guess is that whoever posted listed that number instead of the stipend amount. I wish I had some information for you guys on whether or not they're still notifying, etc. Good luck to you all!!

Thanks for the ego boost Nice to know I got better GRE scores than a Yale admit . . . (Editied out something that sounded meaner than I meant it to.)

BeeRuckus reacted to murkyama in Stupid Question
I cannot believe I am responding to this post.
I was snacking on wasabi peas when I read your post and one pea fell out of my fingers and my mouth remained open as I felt the shock of this question run through my thoughts. While I am not going to respond with the actual answer to your question, I will respond with two questions and ask what conventions are you using in your research and why are not going to the convention's rules to look up the answer instead of posting the question on here?
