yeah I agreed with you. However, I'm an international student enrolling at an american college, so they may have different policies for me. Especially with UNC, they made me submit my app at the end of november which was much earlier than other applicants.
Yes, I'm going to do materials, nanomaterials or solid state in particular. I'm still waiting for MIT, Berkeley and Harvard. I got an email from a professor from Columbia who I put down as my potential advisor. He said he wanted me to work for him. I think I have a chance there.
Btw, Do you visit Penn State on 27th of Feb, Penn on 15th of March and Cornell on 27th of March? We may see each other a lot.
I'm pretty much in the same phase as everyone here. I already got accepted to couple of very good programs, one of them is my top choice. But I'm still going insane with the waiting. I have been refreshing the results page like every 10 mins. I'm a college senior, taking 3 classes. One of my field, ceramics class and building a folk instrument class. I tried to spend alot of time in the studio, just for the heck of it. However, it doesn't seem to help me getting out of this addiction. I think I'm going crazy before actually in Grad school
Peace and good luck to everyone
I signed up for NW open house on 2nd of April due to the long trip to Salt Lake city for ACS conference. However, it seems to me that I may not be able to attend ACS conference due to the funding, so I may change my visiting day to 27th
For Chem program in particular, I don't think they even care about your verbal score. I had 520 on my verbal score, 790 on my quantitative. I already accepted to few good programs. I think my application's strengths are my research experience, publications, and great recommendations. My GRE chemistry is only 770.. it has to be from other stuff.
I'm an international student and I'm going to private college in Indiana for undergraduate. I already got accepted to three state schools Illinois, Indiana and Penn State, so I don't really think the international status is an issue with me. I think it depends mainly on the program that you are applying to, and your quality of being a graduate student which they mainly evaluate based on your application.
I got accepted to Northwestern two days ago. Still waiting for Berkeley, Columbia, Harvard, MIT, Cornell and UNC... But it seems to me that I will be heading to evanston in September
Cornell never updated my application status, so I decided to call them, and they told me mine was complete. I think it's better that you can contact the department on phone if you have any questions.
Good luck
