  1. Finally figured it out! Going to CUNY as well... seemed to make more sense than Columbia in the end.
  2. That's a tough call - I really liked the look of the Berkeley program but didn't apply because I got the impression they only wanted people with legit professional experience (which I don't have). Why did you choose to turn down NYU? It seems like within their Reporting NY program I can put together a pretty flexible and comprehensive education with great professors. Then again, I just went to the CUNY admitted students weekend and was amazed by their facilities and organization, and it seems like a fantastic faculty too. I think I've decided that I don't want to go into debt for Columbia or Medill, despite the names...
  3. Hi there, I don't know if either of you are still following this thread, but I'm currently trying to make the same decision: reporting NY at NYU or going with CUNY. Financially it looks like scholarships will make costs more or less equal either way. Did both of you end up at CUNY? Any thoughts or one-year-later reflections on the topic? Thanks! Kevin
  4. So, I know they said that aid notifications would go out this week, which is killing me with suspense... anyone hear anything yet?
  5. Ah, I'm so curious too... it looks like last year the decisions were announced April 4th, it was mentioned in the Columbia v. Berkeley thread.
  6. Accepted to CUNY, NYU, Columbia, and Medill... Super happy but now trying to figure out how to decide!!!
  7. So far I've just heard from CUNY and NYU, which will be a hard enough decision... Nothing from Medill or Columbia yet, but I'm kind of expecting to hear from both soon (maybe today or tomorrow?). I did notice that on the Columbia application page, if I log in to my application, it now says "application complete" instead of "application under review."
  8. Just figured I'd update a couple of things since I last posted... The unofficial acceptance email said that the actual decisions would be mailed March 8, so I'm hoping to see that sometime soon. I did see that CUNY just added Tom Robbins from the Village Voice as the "investigative journalist in residence," which sounds like an exciting faculty addition. I emailed a CUNY student from another forum who said that the students have developed a great reputation with media companies for internships in the city, a definite plus. With regard to other schools, I received a similar unofficial acceptance email from the Reporting New York program at NYU, so that's also in the mix now... I don't know that much about the Syracuse program other than the fact that they have a great reputation. I spoke with one of their magazine journalism professors a few months before I applied to schools and he seemed to really know his stuff and to love the field. I just decided to stick with programs in NYC and Chicago...
  9. Hello everyone, I'm in the process of applying to journalism schools right now, and I just heard by email that I was admitted to CUNY journalism school. I'm still waiting to hear from Medill, Columbia, and NYU. I visited CUNY when I took the writing test and did the interview, and I loved it - the facilities and faculty seemed great. I wanted to know if anyone had any thoughts on the CUNY program or on any of the other programs. Good luck to all! Kevin
