  1. Thanks for the info. Emily!
  2. Hi Everyone! Congrats to those getting interviews and notifcations! I have yet to hear anything from schools other than Brown and the Michener Center. Getting a little worried... I'd love to hear from Brooklyn, Hunter, Iowa or Ohio. Has anyone heard from other schools?
  3. Congratulations Rob! I'm so glad to hear it went well. I've heard amazing things about the UC San Diego program!
  4. Thank you very much, Emily! Your post made me feel better. I guess I just wish there was some sort of personal contact from the schools, getting a form rejection letter is frustrating. It's such a personal process, so it sort of feels like yelling into the wind. Thank you again, good to hear! Jane
  5. I was also rejected by Brown. And hearing that Yale is doing interviews already makes me feel like that's also a rejection. Starting to feel a bit disheartened by this process. I've heard that people apply several years in a row...have you all applied before?
  6. Good luck Rob!
  7. Hey Grippo! I applied to Brooklyn College as well...I haven't heard anything from them yet. Have you? Jane
  8. Wahoo!! Yay, Alice! Congratulations. That's fantastic. I still haven't heard anything from anywhere. Hopefully soon.
  9. Thank you for your thoughts Rob! It's good hearing more about the process, and reading your post made me feel better and less anxious about everything. Good luck to everyone! Excited to hear more results from everyone!
  10. Yes, I am dying from anxiety too! I'm worried since I haven't gotten any interviews yet. Do you think all schools do interviews? How accomplished do you think most of the playwrights are who are applying? I'm worried people have had off-Broadway shows and lots of work published!
  11. Congratulations!! That is fantastic news!! Good luck!!
  12. In the interest of sharing information for everyones benefit, I heard from UT Michener last night - an email advising me to check the website for a status update. I didn't make it unfortunately. But fingers crossed for the other schools. Good luck to everyone! Jane
  13. PlayLabs was great! The play was beautiful, and the actors were really fantastic. It was an amazing, inspiring experience. I got to meet Tanya, but very briefly. It was pretty awesome to see Christopher Durang as well! Finger crossed And about Northwestern, that's so cool about the Skype interview - especially that Rebecca Gilman was there. She's one of my favorite playwrights. I know someone who got his MFA in Theater Directing from Northwestern, and he was completely funded and said everyone in the theater MFA program was. But I suppose the Dramatic Writing is different. I didn't apply because of the funding issues, but it looks like a great program!
  14. Hmm...I didn't apply to the New School, but I think that's a good sign for your friend! To those who applied to Juilliard - I'm going to sit in on the Play Lab tomorrow which I'm very excited for. I'm asusming all applicants got invited but I'm not certain. I haven't heard anything from anywhere I've applied to yet, but I suppose it is only early February. Sending good thoughts to all of us!
  15. Hey! I actually didn't get an interview at Michener last year. I'm also planning on applying to Ohio and Iowa. Where else are you applying? I've lived in NYC my entire life, with the exception of four years in Baltimore for college. I've had several short one-acts produced in the city, and have had readings of parts of my full-lengths. I'm terribly anxious about this whole process as well - I have no idea if I really stand a chance getting in anywhere. I don't know what my competition is like. I've been writing a bit about my experiences on my blog, janersays.wordpress.com I'm curious to hear more about your experiences!
  16. Hello! I only applied to UT Austin Michener and was rejected. This year I'm applying to a lot of schools. That's great about getting the note from Juilliard last year, that's a good sign...And I like that they took the time to send you a handwritten note. I just got a email inviting me to the a Juilliard Play Lab, I'm assuming everyone got that? It's going to be cool to see regardless. What's your playwriting background?
  17. Hi Everyone! Anyone here apply for Fall 2011 for their Playwriting MFA? I am almost done with my applications and curious to hear if anyone else is in the same boat. I've applied to UT Austin, Juilliard, Yale so far...
