  1. Can anyone speak to housing opportunities in the Hanover, NH area? What might be best for a grad student, have convenience stores and coffee shops close by, and not to far from campus? Also, differences in living in VT vs NH? Its my understanding that VT taxes are much higher, but it seems a fair amount of students still live there... Thoughts on this? Any input at this point will be extremely helpful! Thanks!
  2. Hi there! I would imagine the financial packages vary slightly based on the program. For me, my potential advisor has offered to pay the remainder of what the Neuro dept does not cover for tuition. Additionally, there is a small stipend (~17,500$/yr). I was also awarded a recruitment bonus, so that helps. It is also my understanding that scholarships and grants are potentially easier to get than the US, although often for less money. That might be something to look into as well? Best of luck!
  3. Anyone else considering McGill for grad school this fall? I haven't yet officially accepted, though I am about 95% certain I will. I'm hoping to learn more about where grad students live, hang out, study, and any other relevant information anyone can provide! I heard the McGill ghetto is much more undergraduate than graduate student. I'd like to stay as close as possible to the MNI while still keeping in a relatively cheap/safe/friendly area. Suggestions for helpful websites to find housing? Also, any input on views of Montreal residents of Americans would be nice to hear more about. Essentially, I'd like to get as much information as I can before I commit to the school. Thanks!!!
  4. HopfieldNet--did you receive an official email from the BBS department on that date? I received an email after that date (1/11/12) from the department stating that my application "has been made available to your program for review," so I assumed the official invites had not been sent out yet. Thanks!
  5. I am also still waiting to hear from Yale-neuro. I emailed the department a week ago, and have yet to receive a response. I'm considering (/hoping!) that to mean they are still deliberating, as I'm sure they would have notified me by now if all invites have been sent.
