Don't sweat it. I was accepted with a hefty fellowship (but I'm going to Berkeley instead) for next year, and my undergrad was a motley combination of community college and UIC....the rest of my application was good (I've posted my stats a few months ago), but I was def not Ivy status educationally. Apply!!

This was such a hard decision for me! It ended up being between Berkeley and UChicago, and I've settled on Berkeley (C&F concentration)! The range of field placements and small cohort (15 students) really won be over!

I was wait listed there...even though I got into Berkeley and UChicago. When I was speaking to them earlier they told me they had 25 spots and over 800 applications...I've heard that they value work experience really highly as well.

Thanks! I'm trying to decide between U of Chicago and Berkeley... I didn't apply though, I guess it was just based on the application. And I haven't gotten my actual school financial aid package yet, so we'll see what kind of additional aid will be offered. I hope it comes soon!

They called me yesterday and offered me a 25k scholarship and an RAship! I'm kind of in shock and have some big decisions to make...

I just had that exact conversation with the UW people, I asked "So, we're expected to commit without any idea regarding the financial possibilities?"...and they said yes...I came out of the phone call with a really bad feeling about it. I work for a non profit now, my partner is a teacher, and I am going to a social work program. Avoiding massive debt is a reality in my life, as I'm sure never going to be raking the cash in! Let me know what kind of results you get from your conversation, because I'm tempted to write them off at this point.

Just heard yesterday that I got into University of Washington at Seattle! But not the day program...extended evening program..and they want a commitment by April 8th! Agh! And I've only heard from them and Berkeley so far...out of the SEVEN schools I applied for! Has anyone heard from SFSU or U of Chicago? Or, for those who got into Berkeley, did you get any financial aid information yet?

I applied for the Jan. 15th deadline too...but I haven't heard anything yet! I emailed them last week and they said that my application was with the first reader (out of three, I think) and that I should be hearing in a few weeks...

So instead of working on my applications I'm sitting in a coffee shop agonizing over my admission chances for fall 2011 MSW programs. Help a girl out and let me know what ya think... Graduated from a state university with a double major (Sociology and Gender Studies) in 2008. GPA: 3.87 overall, 3.9 Sociology, 4.0 Gender Studies Work Experience: 8 years part and full time in education, 4 years full time in an urban, high poverty school. Recommendations: 3 shining ones... Life Experience: quirky, raised fundamentalist Christian, home schooled, now queer and a raging liberal... Fun stories. GRE: awful...first standardized test I'd ever taken...
