I accepted an offer for the Philosophy-neuroscience-psychology PhD at WashU. Im moving with my fiancee and we are looking to move near the Danforth campus either in Clayton (DeMun area), CWE (skinker/DeBaliviere), and U-City loop. Anyone know if I should stay away from off-campus Quadrangle housing or stick with craigslist? Quadrangle seems to have the best locations (proximity), but Ive heard bad things about the buildings, repairs, and management. Anyone rent from Barron Realty?

I will be attending LSU this Fall for their masters program in philosophy. I am still trying to decide whether I should look into a 1bedroom because they are so cheap, or save even more money and find a roommate. Save money...versus...risk of bad roommate. I definitely enjoy my privacy, but would be willing to share a house/apartment to get more space, etc provided I find another cool graduate student to live with. Anyone in a similar predicament? Im going to try and get in touch with other incoming philosophy students, but we'll see how that goes.

Realize that happiness is not something that is determined by outside conditions, but rather, from internal considerations of personal responsibility and authenticity. If you don't get into grad school, life will continue as before, but on a different lifetrack. This is no different than the rest of your life, which as I am sure, has not been completely predictable. Go with the flow, enjoy some chemicals, and recognize that academia isn't going anywhere. p.s. Unless you are a zen monk, you will probably always be anxious in these situations, but anxiety is a normal human emotion, so it is no big deal and it will soon pass.

I got a 700v and a 710q with a 5.5 writing score. I was actually expecting my writing score to be higher, but whatever, I think my writing sample is going to be much more important than any ETS score.
