That's the impression I was getting. Since I'm only applying to an MA program I felt it was a bit more... casual? Probably the wrong word, but I'm finishing my SOP so my brain is fried haha.

Hm. I'm a little concerned now, I didn't contact the professors of the MA programs I'm applying to because I honestly didn't know what to say. I had questions about applying and was in contact with the graduate advisor most of the time.....

Hello everyone, Just wondering if anyone could look at my SOP? I'm going for an MA in Art History with a focus on American painting. I'm not comfortable posting it here so if you could just post an okay to PM it to you that'd be cool. I'm also willing to do a swap. Deadlines are the 31st and the 1st so I'm a bit anxious, heh....

I did a semester of Post-Bacc classes, mostly cuz I was a slacker in my undergrad, had a lowish gpa (3.0) and never got to know my professors. The cool thing was, I picked specifically to take classes with professors who were experts in the fields I wanted to study. And I explained this to the professors when classes started and they helped me prepare for grad level work and I got to know them and they got to know me. I feel a lot better going in to applications with this.... We'll see how it all plays out.

I am also applying to Cal State schools and I interpreted that as "put your statement here or send it to the department." Now I'm worried....
