Thanks guys! Best of luck to everyone and congrats to those of you who have gotten in someplace! It seems that for the past few years, just getting in someplace--anyplace--is the hard part, let alone getting in to one of your top choices.

Congratulations on making your decision!
Congrats Sarah!
I have also officially accepted the OB program offer from Maryland!

A friend of mine was accepted at Duke, but will not be going there. I don't know for sure whether she has told them that yet though.
Has anyone heard back (i.e., rejected, interviewed, accepted) from these schools...?
Northeastern, Duke, FSU, University of Houston, University of Georgia
Thanks so much!

I was wrong, Columbia is interviewing this year. Their interview is all day on March 25th and then there is a dinner on March 26th.
As of Feb. 25th, Columbia was still planning on having a "recruiting weekend" according to a professor in the department who was responsible for composing their first short list. Their plans may have changed since no one has heard about a fly out yet. They could just be a couple weeks behind schedule this year.
-
Columbia is most likely not interviewing this year. And I believe they have made their decisions, but have not sent them out yet.
-
They already conducted interviews and will notify those that interviewed by the end of next week. If you didn't interview, then you may not hear until mid-March. (I talked to someone on the phone about it on Thursday.)
Has anyone heard back from Harvard's OB program? Cannot take the wait anymore!

Sociology is vastly less competitive, particularly if you have research experience. So, you may want to ask yourself, is it better to be at a top soc program or a less prestigious psych program?
-
The same happened with Susan Andersen at NYU last year.
To add on with anecdotal evidence, I know that Heilman invited three applicants to interview, and accepted none of them last year. A highly disproportionate number of applicants had come for the newest faculty member at the time (Jay Van Bevel).

Wharton has sent out interviews, though they were via skype. I did not get an interview and I was just rejected this afternoon. No surprise, given that I didn't get an interview.
Any word on Wharton? Chicago? WUSTL? have they extended interviews yet?

Congratulations!! Now any other offers you get are just gravy!
Well, after a day long series of interviews at Brandeis U. I was notified today that I was accepted and funded for 5 years! Official letter in mail soon. Aside from that I've received rejections from URI (Feb 9th) and UC San Diego (Feb 2nd). The only other school I'm waiting for, which I would consider over Brandeis, is Harvard with Langer...no word yet. Though, I like the offer of full funding from Brandeis.
Good luck all!
Accepted: Brandeis
Rejected: URI, UCSD
Waiting: Harvard, Clark, Syracuse, Boston College, UNH

I totally hear you--it does raise a red flag. At the same time, he extended the courtesy of calling me to alert me about the interview, and we had a brief conversation about our convergent research interests. The interview itself was simply a prolonged version of that. If I'm lucky enough to receive an offer, I'll be sure to inquire further about the degree of my POI's involvement with his grad students; from what I've heard so far, however, face-to-face time with him will not be a problem.
That highlights the importance of ensuring your POI's mentoring style suits you. It's probably a good idea to ask whether our POIs follow an apprenticeship, hands-on model or an independent, laissez-faire model. Of course, even hands-on mentors can't define your research interests for you or identify what you're passionate about, though they may present you with some ideas, a loose agenda, or even unfinished data sets.
It sounds like it went well then--that's awesome! And if his grad students said it wouldn't be a problem then I'm sure it will be fine. Have you met him before? I have interacted with a handful of profs at Harvard, so if you PM me his name, then I could give you my impression if I have met him (though that opinion would be based on only a brief conversation so take it with a grain of salt).

I heard from my POI only yesterday (Tuesday); he said to expect a phone interview, which is scheduled for tomorrow, conducted by some of his grad students. I believe two other people on the short list will be interviewed in similar fashion. There is space for only one new student in my POI's lab.
Given that I heard from my POI so recently, it's quite possible that your POI is still reviewing applications. Case in point: Yale's application was also due December 15th, and not one social psych applicant has heard from them, at least according to the results page and this thread.
How did your interview go?! That's super exciting to have an interview at Harvard, but honestly, I find it incredibly odd that your interview was with a grad student --don't you? Personally, it would make me wonder how involved that professor would be as an advisor if he doesn't even conduct his own grad school interviews. Feel free to PM me in response if you would prefer.

The threshold for consideration at the top 10-15 schools is certainly not 750. That's a little absurd. It's more like 700. Applications are considered much more holistically. Of course, a 750 would ABSOLUTELY pass the threshold for that one component of the application, but it is by no means a minimum to be considered. Even for finance I would imagine 750 is a little high for a "threshold".
I completely agree with this. Particularly in Management/OB programs (as opposed to finance, etc.), they are much more interested in your research experience than your GRE or GMAT score.

As of last week, Columbia was just starting to set up meetings to start going though applications. I also think nothing has come out of Stanford yet, so I wouldn't worry about that either. I don't think you have to start thinking about finding another job until the end of the month. Do you mind sharing who your POIs are at Columbia? Feel free to PM me if you are more comfortable with that. Best of luck!!!
-
Nope they did not mention how many people. However, I talked to a current grad student last year about the admissions process and he said that what usually happens is that from a pool of 100+ applicants, they narrow it down to about 15-20 to interview and then a few who are finally accepted.
In other news, I also got an interview invitation at UT-Austin and London Business School.
Congratulations on the UT & London interviews!

Just FYI for everyone -- Columbia does interview though they haven't even begun to look at applications.
-
How about Stanford and Columbia? Do you know if they interview? I applied to those schools too (i see they're on your list).
I'm not sure about Stanford, but I can find out about Columbia today. Do you mind if I ask who you applied to work with at Columbia? Feel free to PM me if you'd like.
-
Just FYI -- Stern doesn't interview, you just get accepted outright. I didn't hear from them yet, I'm just trying to organize some travel plans for something non-related in March and I wanted to make sure it wouldn't conflict with a potential interview date, so I contacted them and they said they don't interview.

I just received an interview invite from Michigan's M&O program! My first piece of good news since I submitted my final application in early January.
Nice to see that there are other OB/Mgmt folks around here. Cautiouslyoptimistic, hope your interview with Harvard goes/went well!
Congratulations on your interview at Michigan! My Harvard interview isn't until next week, so we'll see how it goes...

Ok, so three things:
1) Apparently Virginia interviews in waves. There is often a first interview date and a second. Why that is or what the difference is between the two sets, I have no idea.
2) Someone asked about Columbia and Harvard, and I know Harvard's interview is next week, but Columbia's isn't until the end of February. Both have sent out interview offers, but since Columbia's is so far away, it is still conceivable that you could get an interview offer.
3) Did anyone see that post last night on the results page from someone in clinical who said that he wanted to check if the information being posted was correct, so he contacted the schools he applied to, and about 50% of what had been posted was a flat out lie?! Why on earth would anyone do that? To all those people posting fake information, get a life!

It looks like notifications of rejections at Virginia social psych have started to be posted.
My questions is: Who here has yet to hear anything from UVA social psych yet? (Supposedly, some people were "notified" of their rejection simply by checking their online application. So, you might want to double check there before posting here.)
I am one that has yet to hear anything -- at least yet to hear anything directly from the department -- no invite, no waitlist, no rejection.
Like I said before, I know unofficially that I am more than likely out at UVA, via information passed from my POI at UVA to one of my current professors. However, supposedly, even though my professor noted that it looked like I was out, he also said that my POI at UVA had very positive things to say about my application. Might there be an unofficial second-tier waitlist? Even if there was such a thing, and even if I am on it, I am not holding my breath. (I take it that it is highly unlikely to come off of an unofficial second-tier waitlist. So, even if I was on such a thing, I still take it that I am more than likely out of the running.)
And a follow question: To those who have been notified of rejection, who was your POI? And how were you notified?
I do find it odd what has come out about Virginia on here. There has been a wave of waitlists and a wave of rejections, but others haven't heard anything. And there has been one person who said the received an interview invite, but he/she wouldn't respond to me asking about it. I also called the admin assistant for the social program on Thursday and she said that they were still in the process of sending out invites. So who knows what their timeline is really.

This doesn't seem like a real thing, but anyways, the stipend from Berkeley is really not on par with other offers from other schools. Berkeley is an expensive place to live and I don't want to join the throngs of hobos
Actually it is real, and Berkeley's stipend is comparable to most top programs.

Thanks! I just received an email saying my application has been received and is complete.
Although it also said that the results will be out only in mid-end March The wait is killing me!
Have you heard from any of the other schools you've applied to?
I received an interview invite from Harvard's joint psych/OB program, but other than that, no. Best of luck!!!

Congratulations on accepting your UMass offer!
