To the results board poster who inquired about my subfield and the notification timeline (I'm posting this here because I don't want to clog the results page with non-results information): I applied to the Literature MA program, my subfield is 20th Century American with a focus on post-WWII literature and culture, and I wasn't given any details about the notification timeline. I actually got the phone call yesterday but missed it because I was at work, so I called them back this morning. Good luck to any other Miami hopefuls out there; it really seems like a great program, and the funding offer is quite generous.

Sorry to pry, but was this an email from the school? -

Does anyone know if CUNY is done giving out Enhanced Chancellor's Fellowships? Has anyone else heard from them regarding financial aid/ funding decisions? -

I applied, too, and also haven't heard anything. I'm guessing notifications will go out a bit later than other school's because of the late deadline. -

Sorry to be obsessive, but to those who've received notification about ECFs: were you part of the first or second round of admits that CUNY seems to have sent out? -

Congrats Grad Minion! Were you the second poster on the results board this morning? -

Thanks a ton for the information and the quick reply! And congratulations again! I've got my fingers crossed now. -

To the results board poster who got an email this morning concerning a fellowship offer: firstly, congrats! May I inquire as to what time you received this email? (I'm on the east coast.) I'm anxiously hoping for a fellowship offer from CUNY, as well, and didn't think they'd be sending them out so soon. -

Ah okay. I thought I had seen somewhere that you were finishing up your MA at CUNY; I must have been confusing you with someone else. In any event, I'm actually pretty excited about the prospect of teaching as a graduate student. I've heard similar sentiments from other grad students regarding the complementary nature of teaching and classes. Either way, let's hope we get those fellowships! -

Thanks for this info! How many classes are you taking per semester? It seems like it would be insanely difficult to take 2-3 classes and simultaneously teach 2-3 classes per semester. -

How do you guys interpret CUNY's funding possibilities? The website says they can't offer fellowships to everyone, but that they can arrange a first-year teaching internship for anyone who does not receive a fellowship. Does that mean every single person who doesn't receive a fellowship can get one of the teaching internships? Also, it says a "first-year" teaching internship. Does that mean that it doesn't necessarily continue into the following years? I really want to go to CUNY but the funding situation is a bit unsettling. Not to mention, the state of New York is almost undoubtedly cutting funding from CUNY and SUNY schools this year as per Cuomo's proposed budget plan. I guess it would be best if we could find someone currently attending to fill us in on this, but why not endlessly and hopelessly speculate since speculation is all we've really got for the time being. -
Yeah...same here. That was certainly not a user-friendly experience. Also, when I try to log back in now to check my status I can't get it to work. It's too early in the morning so I've just given up for the time being.
-
Did other people get a couple emails from them prompting us to create a login ID account and also check up on the status of our financial aid materials (if we were submitting them)? Also, UCI notified around the 19th/20th last year, so we should be hearing somewhat soon, I presume.

Congrats to the admits!! Thought I was a really good fit here, but alas, this process is inscrutable and bewildering. -

Check your statuses, everyone. Mine just finally rolled over to a rejection, unfortunately. As with those who got acceptances, there was no associated email, so just go on and check the site. Congrats to all of those who've been accepted here! It sounds like a great program. -

Yeah I agree, although I admit I'd also probably (read: definitely) be obsessing over this if I hadn't received the email. If you are really concerned, I don't know whether this is the best idea, but you could call Robyn Shanahan, the sender of the emails and an incredibly warm and helpful person. I spoke with her on the phone for about 20 minutes awhile back because of a problem with one of my recommendations, and she was extraordinarily helpful and seemed to really understand the neuroticism that this process creates in applicants. -

I do not have an MA, and thus I applied to Wisconsin's Literary Studies MA program and indicated my desire to continue on through the PhD. I did receive the email about notifications going out by Feb.14th. -
I know this is the English forum, but I figure I'm not the only one who has applied to some interdisciplinary type programs as well as English programs. Did anyone else apply to The University of Minnesota's American Studies Ph.D. program? They notified in late January last year, and the fact that I haven't heard a single thing from them is really worrying me.

Firstly, congratulations to those who have been accepted! I will humbly claim one of these, but more importantly open the forum to the others who have received CUNY acceptances thus far. What are your areas/specializations? Are you going to attend the Open House on March 11th? I'm a 20th Century Americanist, emphasis on post-WWII cultural studies with a Cold War bent. As I live in New Jersey, a 35 minute train ride from CUNY, I'll definitely be attending the Open House.

Is it safe to assume that all those who are going to be admitted have been admitted? (For the English/Literature track that is.) I'm still waiting for the status change and my hope is dwindling quickly.
