  1. Did you get your MA from UCF? I've been accepted to the Lit & Cultural studies MA.
  2. No, I did not. What is their email? Please and thank you.
  3. I called the program assistant, Kathy, and asked if a specific decision had been made on my application. She said that there are 3 groups that have been made. 1) People UF is "recruiting" (basically admits), 2) Weight listed, & 3) Rejections. She is making the letters now and hopes to have them mailed out by the end of this week. The ISIS network should be updated next week. She said she didn't know the decision on mine.
  4. I called and asked if a decision has been made on my application. She said the notifications had been sent to those admitted and those weight listed. I asked if my not hearing anything from the school was an implicit rejection, and she confirmed that it is a rejection.
  5. The part that killed me was when they mentioned the time and effort I spent for the application. I kind of just want to send them a thank you card for graciously accepting my application fee (and I had to overnight it, so $20 more). At least they got my name right, BU addressed me by my last name (a recurring problem for 21 years, it got old quick)—it was icing on the cake. At least I've been accepted to UCF.
  6. Here's the email: Thank you for your application to the University of Washington Graduate School. Your file has been carefully reviewed by the graduate admissions committee in the English Language and Literature (PhD) program. Unfortunately, the committee has decided not to recommend your admission and I concur with this decision. The number and quality of graduate applicants to the University of Washington are extraordinary and these difficult decisions are reached through careful consideration of all applicants to a given program. In many cases, enrollment restrictions are also a factor, limiting our ability to accept all qualified applicants. If you have questions regarding the reasons for this decision, they should be directed to the graduate program. I realize that this outcome is disappointing, but I do thank you for the time and effort you invested into applying to a graduate program at the UW, as I recognize that expenditures of money and time to do so can be considerable. I wish you well in your future educational endeavors. Sincerely, Gerald J. Baldasty Vice Provost and Dean of the Graduate School University of Washington Note: this email has been sent from an automated email address. If you would like further information concerning this decision, please contact the graduate program office to which you applied.
  7. I suggest just calling them. We (I go to/work at UCF) just changed email systems this weekend (why on Earth they thought to do this mid semester is beyond me) and have been having trouble with the new system.
  8. Has anyone heard any news from UK? I applied to their MA program.
  9. I am applying with a BA (and a BS in psych, lol) to the MA/PhD track.
  10. I spoke to the program coordinator last week and they began to review MA applications this week (14/2) and had already been reviewing the PhDs. She said to expect notifications in the beginning to mid March. I made the same error of applying to the PhD program with only a BA. She, the program coordinator, put me with the MA applications because she said that I was unable to apply to the PhD program without an MA. She also said that was an easier route. Also, I somehow selected FALL 2010 (how is that even possible) and my undergraduate institution was incorrect. I had to get the English Dept. to interoffice mail my transcript to the graduate admissions office to fix the ordeal. Needless to say I had a heart attack over the situation.
  11. Has anyone heard any information from Boston U on when they're notifying and/or how many they're accepting for their PhD program? They have no "Status Tracker" website, (I emailed in early January) so I am assuming they'll email all of us.
