  1. My girlfriend would tell you I'm more like John Nash (not that I'm anywhere near his brilliance, but rather in terms of being wrapped up in my own research and ideas). Also, I did receive a rejection from Michigan. In at Stanford, Duke and Yale. Edit: She also claims that I'm neurotic (just like Nash). She reaches that bizarre conclusion using the premise that I spend way too much time on TGF.
  2. I was notified via email... I just checked the applyyourself page and nothing's changed there.
  3. Alright guys, I'm quite speechless right now, but I just got an email with an acceptance from Yale. It was from a professor I mentioned in my SOP who is bigtime in conflict research. I'm in at Stanford already so I will have to make an unbelievably hard decision come April. I hope many of you will get similar good news soon!
  4. Good to see your post was real! Still can't believe they contacted you on a Sunday - they must really want you there! Sorry I doubted that. Guess there is still some hope for those who haven't heard from Stanford...
  5. Upon further consideration, I guess a better second question would be: What time and date is the dinner reception with graduate students during admit week? Any admitted student will know this, and it does not vary from person to person... balderdash: I'll PM you.
  6. Maybe so, although the admissions letter looks pretty generic and I would assume that the candidates that were admitted this early represent Stanford's "top choices" and were offered the same package. Even if not, he could still answer the first question.
  7. If this is true, I'm really glad for you and look forward to seeing you on Admit Week. However, given the oddity of finding out on a Sunday, would you mind answering some questions that only someone who's heard from Stanford would know at this stage? I think you owe this to those who got their hopes up because of your post. So: exactly how many applications did Stanford get this cycle? What is the value of the fellowship (in total) for 2011-2012?
  8. Don't want to be too specific here but my research interests lie at the intersection of comp. politics and IR, 3.98 GPA from a large public univ, 800Q 650V on the GRE. In general I would say that me getting into Stanford shows that you don't have to come from an elite undergrad institution. I did have one or two fairly well-known professors writing my LORs though, and I spent alot of time on my SOP.
  9. No problem. I haven't posted here before but (nervously and against my own will) surfed this forum for months. Will try to stay away from now though, but we'll see how that goes
  10. I posted the Stanford acceptance, and, yes, it is real. Good luck to all of you!
