  1. Please reply. Why isn't anyone replying?
  2. I think your idea about going back, working and reapplying is a good one. You're young and you may want to consider working for a few years and getting some work experience to strenghten your application. You can always defer your GWU offer and go next year.
  3. I got accepted to Monterey as well but I am considering not going simply due to the amount of loans I would have to take. Monterey is a pretty new school and I feel like I won't have many networking/internship opportunities. They're well-known for their MBA and language programs though. You have been admitted to some pretty good schools. You may want to wait until you hear back from all of them and then decide. Visiting the school could also help you. Then, you will really be able to get an idea of what it's like and decide whether it's the right choice for you. Best of luck!!
  4. I found out today that I was waitlisted at one of my top schools and that I should find out if I got in by May 21st (more waiting, yay!!) I was thinking about writing them a letter or even make an appointment to speak to one of the admissions rep. to show my interest. However, I live in California and the school is in DC. Not sure if it's worth it to spend that money traveling at this point!! Since I'm planning to go part-time to that school and hopefully have my job transferred to my company's DC location, I would need to know asap. Any advice on what to do to stand out in the waitlisting pool? Any suggestions? Thanks.
  5. It seems like it's going to be mid-march so basically next week (for Elliott, at least). You can also look at last year's results and see around what day the decisions were sent last year and that will give you an idea about this year's decisions. Best of luck!
  6. I saw that you applied at SIPA. A large portion of the decisions has been posted March 7th or 8th I think. I didn't receive any emails notifying me but just logged in to see. And here it was : my rejection letter . Also, it seems that some schools don't really email you to tell you when the decision has been reached so make sure, you log into the application website and check daily. Best of luck!!
  7. First rejection from SIPA. Feeling a little sad even though I didn't really expect to be admitted.

  8. Check out Fletcher's blog today entitled "Decisions 101". This seems to be it, guys. We should know very very soon. http://sites.tufts.edu/fletcheradmissions/
  9. Still waiting on Fletcher/MALD program. According to their blog, the decisions will be sent before the end of March.
  10. I just received the financial aid info for Monterey and I don't know if I feel comfortable being in that much debt. Like you say, this month should be it to hear from the other schools. I hope there are some good news in sight in regards to funding.
  11. They update their blog almost every day. Check it out: http://sites.tufts.edu/fletcheradmissions/ The results should be out by the end of March. That waiting is torture!!!!
  12. February is over. March is upon us; hopefully with good news!!

  13. Thanks blorgmorg . The deadline to secure the 8K scholarship for Monterey is tomorrow and I would have to send my $500 non-refundable deposit today. Not sure what to do yet. They were really nice to extend that deadline but I still have three schools to consider (though I doubt I'll get into Columbia). I hope to hear from all three schools before the end of March so that I can figure out what to do. I would like to pursue studies in the field of Security/Conflict Resolution. How about you? Any news from the schools?
  14. It seems that the schools will let you know sometime after April 15, even May. It really depends on the school. Usually, you have to pay a non-refundable deposit to confirm your acceptance. I assume that's what you need to pay at the decent school where you've been accepted. I'm in a similar situation myself. I have been accepted into a school (not my top choice) and need to reply by March 1st with the non-refundable deposit to confirm my attendance. I would honestly contact the school and ask them when they usually let you know about waitlisting. Each school is different. Also, try to see if you can get in touch with previous students (look at older blogs) who may be able to give you more information. You may also want to contact the school that's accepted you to see if they can extend their response deadline. Best of luck!!
  15. I am. I want to get a Master's in International Relations/ International Affairs. I applied at Fletcher, Elliott and SIPA. The wait is killing me!!
  16. Another month of waiting? Hopefully not :(

  17. Congrats on being invited to those Open Houses. Since you're leaning more towards School #1, you may want to spend the entire weekend there (24th and 25th). Then, you can go to school 2 from the 26th through the 27th. You spend about two days at both schools so it's somehow balanced. I think it's important that you visit both schools to get a feel of the place and see which one would be a better fit for you. Like you mentioned on your post, make sure you talk to your potential classmates, professors and admissions staff so that you will be using your time wisely and won't regret not being there for the entire open house. Best of luck!!
  18. So, I got accepted into the Master's of International Studies Program at the Monterey Institute. They're offering me a scholarship to attend (which will cover maybe 1/3 of the tuition cost). I'm waiting on three other schools: SIPA, Tufts/Fletcher and George Washington/Elliott. I honestly don't think I'll get into SIPA. I applied too late and my GRE scores are not very good. I should blame it on the fact that I came here for undergrad but was born and raised overseas though I'm a permanent resident now. MIIS doesn't require its applicants to take the GRE which was really great. However, to secure the scholarship, they want my answer and $500 nonrefundable deposit by Jan. 28th. I emailed them recently and was able to push the deadline to March 1st. I like MIIS but I feel that I'd rather be on the East Coast in the "center of the action". It seems that most schools send their acceptance/nonacceptance/waislist letters by midmarch. Any thoughts about MIIS? Fletcher? Elliott (I applied to their part-time program)? Thanks. P.S.: New hobby developed while waiting and calming down my nerves: organizing my closet and thinking that maybe, at this time next year, I will be so busy that I'd wish I would have enjoyed my time right now in the waiting frenzy.
  19. Got an offer from miis. Not sure what to do. Now waiting to hear from other schools. Any thoughts about miis? (they don't list post-graduation employment data)
