ppl don't always get what you dream of. This is just how life is. So stop crying and move on. You didn't get in so what? Maybe that dream school of your is not a perfect fit for you after all. Cheer up alright. Think of those ppl who are suffering in Japan and those who got rejected by all of their dream schools. You are way better off than they are.

nice place but do expect to see many homeless on Telegraph.

I received UCSD IR/PS package last night. Information on school, program, and courses. No word about funding
-
Got into UCSD IR/PS in Jan. Rejected by Yale. Still waiting for USC but I will most likely be going to UCSD IR/PS program.

I totally hear you comrade! I work so I go to the library to work on my SoP and applications stuff over the weekend (don't want to stay home cuz way too many distractions). She knows about this and guess what, this is what my dear mother told family relatives and friends on the phone, "oh yea, young ppl now a days goes out everyday to enjoy their lives. they don't work hard as we do before" excuse me Ma'am
Mom's really don't have a clue when it comes to all of this. My mom thinks that I am smart therefore I will get into anything I want to do in life, and so she ignores me when I tell her its stressful. To make matters worse, she does not seem to get how long all of this stuff takes. For example, "What did you do today?" Answer: I worked on my SOP. Mom: Oh that's all you did, I see you need a break sometimes. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!
We have to love and honor them, but sometimes we also just have to realize Mom's don't have a clue!

I am depressed because my mom kept on making a big deal about me being rejected by Yale. I mean just because I didn't make it doesn't make me a loser. I told her I wanted to go to UCSD in the very beginning. Why can't she be happy for me that I am going to where I wanted to go.

that will pacify some anxious sole

Indisabelle, you are not the only one. Mine shows the same message
As so many of you have heard the good news, I'm pretty freaked out right now cause I checked my online status and it STILL says ,
"Your file is currently in the first stage of our evaluation process. We will notify you if additional information or materials are required. Please contact your intended academic department directly to make sure all supplemental application materials have been received."
How can that be possible? I submitted my application on mid-Dec. Should I trust the online status???Is it possible that they haven't updated it for a long time?
I really appreciate some comfort here...

Congratulations! I'm rejected :-(
Guess it's because I don't have any full-time work experience or any interesting life experiences since I'm a senior in college.
I study at a top liberal arts college and my "stats" are all higher than yours (except for the AW part on GRE) but rejected anyways...
Are you going there though?
ha found a buddy in here. hooray for rejected I had work experience and research internship experience at woodrow wilson center. GRE Q: 7500, V: 650 GPA:3.43 overall
Guess it's my GPA that had me rejected

all the decisions before first week of april or in the first week of April ? cos few ppl have got admits already !
I had the same question actually. the message states"by the first week of April". So guess decision is oozing out little by little every day/ or week.
-
just got rejected but it's alright
congratulations to you guys got accepted
-
I sent an email to USC about a wk ago requesting the status of application. Got a line back on this past Saturday telling me "all decisions will be made the first wk of April"

I was looking for advise too. Went to some stores last week, a rep. introduced me to Acer. It was very light, easy to carry, LED screen, which saves battery life. it cost about 500 USD. I am not sure about it tho, I heard Acer is a Taiwan brand, but how good is it? has anyone test it out?

Turian, did you receive any admission package from UCSD? or is it only when we accept the offer?
I applied to four schools:
University of Denver; Korbel School (MA International Human Rights)
Tufts University; Fletcher School (MALD)
UCSD IR/PS (MPIA)
Stanford University (MA East Asian studies)
I received a message from UCSD via the online application but no word on funding...
Korbel offered me at least 10k a year. Still waiting on Stanford ( and their FLAS). Haven't heard from Fletcher either and their web portal has been down (probably uploading decisions).
Next two weeks perhaps?
Has anyone here applied for the Pickering Fellowship too?

I found out i need to retake econ and stats all too late now, because i can't add into any community college classes by this time. will need to call my boss and rearrange my summer schedule.:angry:arrr I am still waiting for yale jackson institute and usc public diplomacy both would probably take another wk or 2 to make announcements
-
Beaverish i just saw you on Jackson institute page.
Anyone admitted to UCSD received admission package? I haven't and it's been 2 or 3 wks already
-
Man another week or two?! what's taking them so long....
although I know I probably wouldn't get admitted, the thought of waiting for another wk or two is to difficult to cope with

Yep, I applied to USC....I haven't heard back.
Although I did receive a notification that my app was in a week ago (applied back in December) and I also was asked to fill out a supplementary financial aid form online (this was after I completed my FASFA)...
I wonder when we will hear back??
Pumpkinpie I got the same thing you did. I haven't yet figure out how to submit my U.S. citizen proof(which is a copy of my passport). I heard some other USC programs have made some announcements already. I am getting more and more anxious each day
-
Congrats Yatto on getting into Harvard!!!
Has anyone had any trouble with the application to Stanford's MA in East Asian Studies?
Turian, have you heard about your UCSD application? did you get any funding or anything? I haven't received any packages or funding information.
-
Could anyone tell me about the Asian program at UC Berkeley?
It's got good resources and some fantastic professors. I minored Chinese lit. during my undergrad years. However, the department is not very big. With the current economy, I am expecting less funding for the program.
-
Got accepted to UCSD MPIA program.
I found out yesterday that they want me to take econ. and stats as preparation this summer starting Aug. 1st. I had other plans for the summer and will be out of the U.S. until mid Aug. Fantastic new right? not quite! after calling and sending emails, they told me it would also be okay to take prep. courses at a community college. At this time, most schools have started their spring semester. The best I could get is going to the one that started about 2 days ago and try my luck. I went last night dashing in and out of several classrooms making inquiries to profs. Most of them are very cold about whatever situation you are in. They don't want to listen or talk. One of them even told me "oh if you want to take classes, be on time next time".
So the only options I have right now is to see if I would be able to change my flight and rearrange schedule with my boss. sucks big time but what else can I do right
My mother who was never a wishful thinking person had managed to tell me maybe it was a sign that I should wait for some other school's offer last night. haha I don't know I had UCSD on the very top of my list
-
hi everybody! Anyone else got provisional admission that requires prep. courses to be taken over the summer? I was wondering which course I need to retake. The dilemma right now is I will be out of the States until mid Aug and UCSD's summer prep. course starts on Aug. 1st.
