    While I still have hope but no correspondence yet, I'll do my job/school research for next year. Any rejections will probably destroy my motivation so might as well do it now.

      Aw, there is so much time between now and next year. If it's something you really want, you will always get that motivation back.

      true, true. I just remember my experience applying to undergrad, and "knowing" I would be rejected at a school, and then when I was finally waitlisted, it still hit me harder than I ever imagined.
