Thanks guys. I e-mailed the grad admissions assistant and she told me.
-
I'm admitted to UVA
-
I'll drink to that
-
You have excellent credentials. I honestly believe that you will be admitted to UVA, among others.
-
Where is this information coming from that UVA has already notified those admitted applicants??
-
I hope it's safe to assume that UVA will get back this week, since they were allegedly issuing decisions last week...
-
Additionally, jackassjim, my experience is entirely relevant to my proposed area of study--Public Law/Judicial Politics. My stats were provided in a previous post and will not be repeated here...
-
Your school may the exception. During my undergrad years, few, if any, of the Political Science professors had any experience outside of academia...
-
perhaps you are correct, we shall see...

It is time for me to vent ... we all know that these adcoms are comprised of people who have never done anything outside of a university environment. They deal with ideas and theories, but never actually gain any hands-on experience ("real world" is just too overused at this point). For whatever reason, I think they tend to look down on those of us who have actually worked for a living. It so happens that I have excellent academic credentials as well as two years of law practice, in a very sophisticated area of law no less. Yet this seemingly means nothing to these adcom members who are solely interested in applicants who have spent their entire lives as students and not a single day as a professional with actual responsibilities. Sermon over.
-
guvmentkid -- you and I are definitely in a similar situation ... here's hoping "real world experience" counts for something.
-
I really thought my law degree and two years of law practice would help in the admission process ... maybe not though
-
Public Law/Judicial Politics ... how about you?
-
Thank you for the kind words Rockso. I wish you all the best as well.
-
i agree; after all, why would UVA start notifying this late in the day....
-
still nothing on my end from UVA, anyone else??
-
As it turns out, one of my LOR writers did not submit his letter to any of my schools. This has left me with only two LORs. Ohio State will not consider my application since I am missing one required LOR. Wisconsin did review my application (per the graduate coordinator via e-mail message), but I have heard nothing else from Wisconsin so I assume I was rejected. Notre Dame has asked me to try to find another professor to write an LOR, but I don't think I'll be able to at this point (she seemed to indicate that the committee will still review my application even w/o a third LOR). I don't know if WUSTL will review the application or not, haven't heard anything from them. Northwestern and UVA only require two LORs, so those seem to be my last best hope. Fortunately, these are two of my top three choices (along with Wisconsin)...

VIRGINIA FOR THE LOVE OF G-D!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
i sure wish someone would call UVA and ask whaz up???????
-
We MUST hear from Virginia today ... I haven't heard anything from Ohio State or Wisconsin (very bad signs), so I need Virginia to give me some good news today...
-
Judicial Politics/Public Law
-
NO!! I did not ask her for info ... she simply emailed me to tell me that they are missing one of my LORs!!!!
-
In case anyone is curious about Notre Dame's time schedule, this is a quote from an e-mail I received from director of graduate admissions yesterday: "Please be patient, decisions are not likely to be made before the end of February. As soon as any information is available you will be contacted via email."
-
I shouldn't even ask ... but has anyone heard from Virginia???????
-
Well, I live in the Midwest, and I didn't receive a letter from Wisconsin today ... I guess I should be worried....
