I was there a few days ago: super nice, great program, small and flexible class, mid-twenties, good network and great jobs opportunities. For those who are still hesitating, go for it.

Okay, weird question : I haven't gotten any email (neither an acceptance nor a rejection) and on my sparks account I have access to the new admits page. Anyone in the same situation???????

Thanks for the info! The 31st would be the deadline, but possibly decisions might come early? Or is it a fixed date?
Usually, they send out MPA2 decisions a week after the MPP decisions. But this year with the problems they're dealing with regarding the "Box", I think we'll have to wait a little longer...

Can we expect admission decisions today? What are our chances?
Well, if they keep the last year schedule, we should get decisions today but, considering the difficulties the notorious MPA2 box is causing, I think we should expect a few more days of waiting....

Accepted MPP here. So I visited the campus yesterday and stopped by Admissions... the poor woman at the front desk was fielding all those angry calls about the MPA2 box. I think they will make the instructions more clear next year, so keep complaining.
And? Did you fish for more information? Less chances to get in right?

I am also in this situation. They should have been more clear about that box.
Well, when I filled in the app form, I thought that "deemed ineligible" meant : not considered for and not accepted. Apparently, it meant "considered for" only... Checking the box made us change the pool we're competing with. That's at least what I understand from this... Any other thoughts?

Prabbit and abbabeel : check your embark status. if it says "MPA" so yes, we are on the same boat. And according to what the Admission office told to several of us, no we won't be considered for the MPP, the program we applied to in the first place.
If your embark status says MPA, please PM me.
Please, if anyone else is in the same situation (applied to the MPP, checked the box, embark status says MPA), speak up.

feeling the same. I wasn't expecting to get in, but I'm frustrated that I wasn't even considered fairly for the program.
Please, how many people in the same situation? And what kind of background?

Does anyone know if checkng the mpa2 box (consider if eligibible) excluded you from the MPP if you did not meet the mpa2 requirements?? Thanks a lot

What do you think it means? They considered us for MPA only so if we don't get in we're screwed for the MPP even if it was our first choice? That's a non sense. They haven't gotten back to me yet. That's torture looool

Okay, anyone in the same situation?
I applied to HKS MPP and haven't heard anything yet. When I check my embark status, it says "thank you for applying to the MPA program" !! What is that? I remember checking the box "do you want to be considered for the MPA2" but I didn't think it would automatically change my application which is originally to the MPP... I don't have the credentials to be considered for the MPA2, I checked this stupid box thinking it was a formality.
Anyone with the same problem? Thoughts?

It's not about second guessing, thing is I doubt statistics fits into their decision making process. One of these days the results are coming out. Lol why worry about statistics? It's cute that people are thinking about the admissions process, but really you're going to drive yourselves mad. Maybe I'm relaxed not because I'm confident in getting in, far from it, I actually think I won't. But harvard or no harvard, I'm confident enough to realise that there's more to life then harvard. I'd love the experience, to meet like minded ppl etc, nut if it doesn't happen it just means other doors will open!

In my case, I just want to receive the rejection letter to be over the waiting and focus on choosing my school. Plus, I have a friend in HKS who told me that they got this year the largest pool of applicants they've never had and that decisions were likely to be sent out in late March. Hope she's wrong.

I don't know if that helps, but as an admitted student, SIPA gives you until 05/02 to make a final decision and pay a deposit.

I am lucky I have to give one month notice. But then visa process in my country takes around more than 3 months. My guess is 15th of March. My wish is tomorrow
Tell ma about it... They could at least give us a more specific timeframe for their decisions, not the day, but just an idea...

Yes, plus the waiting can be a pain in the ass for those like me who are to quit their jobs... In my country you have to give a three to four months notice... :-(
I called them and they said ON March 31st. Arf, I guess they're just leading on poor international students ;-)

Those of you who got accepted anyone international? I haven't heard anything yet. I'm freaking out.
International. Got in. MPA. (btw : SIPA wants us in NYC on July 25th, international students only)

I know this is the SIPA thread, but I still have a question about HKS. I have a major quitting my job issue, I'll spare you the details. Anyway, I gave them a call to ask for a more precise timeframe for their decisions. They said ON march 31st exactly. Not BY, ON. They assure me they wouldn't send out decisions for MPP/MPAs before that day. Were they just leading me on? Do they tell that every year or is this reliable? What do you think?

To Theguru and Ideathinker : you won't make me feel sorry for telling how badly I think about bragging, discouraging other people and using "racism" as an excuse for such a behavior. And sorry but it has nothing to do with insecurity or jealousy what so ever. When I came on this forum for the first time, it was for getting help, encouragements and advice. Some people are just harmful, like this guy's comments. At first, it actually depressed me, now I've decided to speak up and not to let them go away with it. Sorry if it's "over-reacting", I'm latin ;-)
Let's go back to the intial topic : HKS, I thought they wouldn't send out decisions until April?

Well.. I don't understand what your problems are. I have that background and I was thinking retaking my GRE so I wanted
to get comments from you guys.
Even if I had applied, I don't know why the adcom would not admit someone because they posted their credentials on this forum.
Are you saying I would not get into the program if I applied for the reason that I posted my credentials here??
By the way, I retook the GRE and 780 on the quant so I will apply next year and that will make me more competitive.

Racism? Are you serious :-D? Thta's the only lame excuse you could come up with to explain the people reactions to your bragging? Here is a Godwin point for you. Frame it. Posting credentials is fine, bragging about them and pretending you're soooo getting in while discouraging others proves a bad mentality and that might annoy Adcoms indeed.
On this forum, we all try to help and support each other. If you can't do that, you're not someone I'd like to be classmate with.

First of all : best of luck on your applications.
I think you've been mislead on the qualifications you need to get into HKS MPA2. I got in, I am 27, 3 years full time work experience + 2-3 years of part-time internships. I do have a solid work experience but still, only 3 years full time. I've met with several of future classmates, same stories. 3 years on average, solid, top level but hardly more than 4 or 5.
You have a pretty good shot at HKS, good luck.
