  1. jwa: If you're referring to UW BE, they only have one round of interviews and it's at the end of March. They could be inviting more people as people turn down their interview invites, though.
  2. Just got an invite to UW Bioengineering. So there is still hope. I wish their interview wasn't so far away, though. The rollercoaster doesn't seem to want to end.
  3. ^ Me too. No idea what it means. There could be another wave of invites/rejections.
  4. ^ UW Bioengineering has been sending out rejections today. amazonian: this year seems incredibly rough. Berkeley had 200 applicants over last year and I imagine other programs were similarly swamped. If you end up taking a year off, I recommend trying to start some conversations with professors and building up a bit of a relationship. It's what I did this year and I've ended up doing much better than last year (though still got no love from Harvard, MIT, Stanford, and UCSF/Berkeley).
  5. I'll be at the first weekend, too. And that's largely what I'm interested in as well, but mostly synthetic biology over systems biology (though you can't really have the former without the latter). Northwestern has a fairly sizable synbio group (Leonard, Jewett, and Tyo). Should be a fun, busy weekend. See you there.
  6. Right; I was referring to the wave on the 17th. Looks like Berkeley BioE is done as well. Rough day (for some of us, anyway). Sysbio: Who're you interested in at Northwestern? Which weekend are you going to?
  7. Looks like it . In past years there are only invite results on gradcafe from one day. It's a small program, so I doubt they'll have multiple waves.
  8. jroac: Did the MIT CSB people give you a day this week when the committee is meeting?
  9. Stats: Undergrad: Top 100-ish Midwestern State School Major: Math with lots of CS/Biology/Chemistry coursework GPA: 3.74 (including a pretty bad final semester) Research: I've done projects in genetics, computational biology, and synthetic biology over about 3.5 years. I graduated in 2011 and have been doing research since then. Publications: one minor-author on a Nature paper, and minor paper in submission GRE Scores: 800Q, 660V, 5.0AW Other: Amgen Scholar and some school-level awards/honors Programs: UW-Seattle Bioengineering UW-Seattle Biology/Computational Molecular Biology Berkeley/UCSF Bioengineering Stanford Bioengineering MIT CSB Harvard Systems Biology BU Biomedical Engineering Northwestern IBiS UC Davis Biomedical Engineering U of Utah Bioengineering So far: Interview invites for UW-Seattle Biology and Northwestern IBiS. Presumably rejected from Harvard Systems Biology.
  10. I've applied to a bunch of BE-ish programs (UW-Seattle BE, Berkeley/UCSF BE, Stanford BE, Davis BME, BU BME) and haven't heard anything. Historically there's not much going on until mid-January onward (and there hasn't been anything on the gradcafe results page yet). Stanford sent me an email on Dec 28th stating that my application is complete, but that's it.

  13. Anyone know if MIT and UW-Seattle are finished with invites? Seems like it.
  14. People have posted invites from UW (on two different dates, I think).
  15. How many people got UW rejections recently? Has everyone heard something at this point?
