  1. Totally normal. This whole process has been an emotional roller coaster.
  2. When you're looking for places in Boston, I suggest seeing if the university has a list of people seeking roommates. Some schools have that, and I found an amazing roommate and apartment that way. Boston is FULL of students, so I don't think you'll have a problem finding an affordable place to live.
  3. I'm deciding between schools for SLP, too. I live in NYC already, but I think we're going to be so incredibly busy in school that we won't have time to enjoy the city to the fullest. Plus rent and cost-of-living here are terrible, so take those into consideration. Are you interested in working in schools, though? Because the TSSLD is mandatory for that in NY State, and it's a pain to get it after you finish a program. So if you're thinking of moving to NYC one day and working in a school, maybe NYU makes sense.
  4. I agree. From what my friends who work in academia tell me, rankings are more based on how many papers the faculty of that program publish than the quality of the teaching. That's how academia and tenure work in general. I am trying not to think about the ranking when making this decision. I want to attend the school that will best prepare me to be an SLP, since that is why I am getting my master's! If I ever lose my mind enough (joking--sort of) to pursue a Ph.D., then I will probably pay more attention to the rankings and what journals the professors have been published in.
  5. Okay, on a more serious note: I noticed some people on the results boards have posted about "shooting themselves" or "jumping off a cliff" if they aren't accepted to a certain school. I know these are just expressions and people are really stressed out, but please remember that admissions decisions sometimes make no sense. You are more than your status at a university! Don't let a rejection get you too down! We've all (I imagine) been there, and it's awful, but if you really want to be an SLP and you are qualified, then you will find a school that is right for you. Alright, I just had to get that off my chest. Everyone take some deep breaths. This is all going to be over soon, thankfully!
  6. Thanks for this. Those are the types of things I have heard, too, but I know they have had some faculty changes in the past few years, so maybe things have changed. I've been trying to hunt (sorry for the pun!) down recent grads/current students, so I will let people know if anyone responds to me.
  7. Yes, my mail is lousy! But my e-mail seems to be working. I have other options if I don't get in, so I'm not complaining! Congrats to everyone who heard good news from NYU and elsewhere today!
  8. I haven't heard anything from NYU since my interview (well, the postcard was nice). Twiddling my thumbs!
  9. I want to see that signature updated post-haste! So happy for you!
  10. Does anyone know about this program? I have heard various things, so I would love to hear more!
  11. Would people in-the-know about Hunter's program please message me? I'd really appreciate it!
  12. I e-mailed a school asking if they had an accepted graduate student day, and I never received a response! Everything they sent me concerned undergrads.
  13. Don't be discouraged! It seems like a lot of schools notify people a few at a time. There were about 2 weeks between some Adelphi acceptances, for instance. I'm hoping tomorrow is a good day for lots of you!
  14. I received an e-mail that I the decision was on the website. I guess if you don't have an e-mail your decision might not be posted yet.
  15. Congratulations! I hope they give you 1 million dollars.
  16. Go ahead and call admissions. That's what they're there for! (My mom used to work in admissions.)
  17. Why today? Did you hear something? [EDIT: Oh, right! They're supposedly going to let us know this week! But I don't want to know today. It's the Ides of March!]
  18. Congrats! Did you have an interview first, or were you accepted flat-out? I'm waiting to hear from the Brooklyn campus.
  19. Someone posted this on the results board about TC:
  20. Same here. Solidarity. "Good things come to those who wait." Yes, I'm going to quote a trite saying in an attempt to make people like us feel better. I'm just happy to hear that some people are getting in places. I was starting to think that nobody would get in anywhere.
  21. Woo hoo! I hope everyone gets good news from a school today!
  22. Congratulations! Wonderful news!
  23. Okay. Now I'm envisioning Richard Simmons interrupting the manically laughing Deciders. Thank you. My afternoon suddenly became much funnier!
  24. According to EdFind on ASHA's website, Emerson received 539 full-time applications last year. I wonder if every school has about a 17% increase in apps.
  25. I have a mental vision of The Deciders sitting around, smoking cigars, and laughing maniacally as they read how desperate we all are about finding out the course of the next few years of our lives. Come on, Deciders! Please just decide and let us know. It's not as though there's anything going on in the world that could possibly be more important.
