  1. And also what do the Graduate students do for fun or are they bogged down with all their research. While I do like research I dont want it to be a 24/7 commitment
  2. So does anyone know about the social life at princeton for graduate students?? I have been curious and all because princeton is quite a small town. I have never studied in a small town before having lived and studied in major cities in several continents.
  3. Same situation with me, The AC is with my app they said when I called. I am also skeptical about an acceptance because they rarely accept students this late. I am also waiting on Mich and Cornell. Got rejected by five schools and accepted into four. I would post all my results when they come out for interest. I really wanted a top 10 PhD but seems my dream has been trashed
  4. Vanderboy is correct- I asked Columbia about this a month ago and they said if you have not received an email by this time assume rejection. At that time they said they were not sure about a waitlist though when I called- so now they have a waitlist. Also confused about the claim that they were going to send 20 offers- I was so optimistic. Well would call and see if I was on the waitlist. I wish. Does anyone have an idea of how many people apply to programs like Columbia, Stanford e.t.c just to have an idea of the size of the applicant pool
  5. Ok, so i have a question. I did my undergraduate studies in the US but left to do a Masters degree in a different country- would it be weird that i am going back to the US to do a PhD after a year? Like since i am supposed to show that I would be go home after my studies which I did a month after graduation - Packed my bags, said bye to friends and headed straight home. Then later decided to pursue a Masters degree in the UK and got accepted into one of the Harvard, Yale, MIT group. Now kind of worried about the visa because the fact that I am going back to the US so early might look like I want to live there or something. Not my fault that the top PhD programs are in the US sigh. Also wanted to mention it depends on the country you are from- coming from a third world country its very difficult for me to get a student visa. Dont know it will be a positive that I left the US immediately after undergraduate studies. My teachers told me not to leave the US in case of visa issues but i didn't listen!!!!
  6. ^ Yeah i did call. They said the end of the week about three days ago and I have been checking my email for days- Nothing Maybe they meant end of the month, because if nothing comes in the next two hours that would be kind of weird- Maybe next week or some people who got the results are not on thegradcafe? This place is kind of self-selective with all the high-stat weirdos congregating en-masse to mock those with average stats and wave their Stanford and MIT acceptances in the face of people who just would be happy with school ranked in the 30s. Joking But it sucks to be an international student big time.
  7. Whooo got my first rejection today Columbia claimed that they would be sending ~20 offers before the end of this week as their final wave- have not seen anything on the results board though
  8. you guys are lucky- I have not heard from nearly 80% of my schools. Should I assume rejection too? I am applying for biological chemistry/biophysical chemistry. Seems not many in that field, only organic or inorganic chemistry. I thought biological chemistry was going to be big, maybe they take mostly inorganic/organic/physical people and make them work on bio stuff? So depressed right now after all the hard work I put into college. is anyone here doing Bio-Chemistry apart from Vanderboy?
  9. Thats reassuring. Would stop fretting. I already got into one of my top choices but would not mind another one. Also I am international anyways and my application probably is looked at last
  10. Waiting on Columbia too for biological chemistry. Really Really want to go to Columbia. Also i applied to Penn but have heard nothing from them so assume rejection- bleh Do like Biological chemistry people come last or something? Because all I see are inorganic/organic people. Not fair. I haven't heard from a single school except ones which mass email people at once. But those with rolling admissions, I have heard nothing from.
