Good Sign, Omen or Hallucination - All Are Welcome!

You are absolutely right. Moreover, I totally understand that my reasons are not that serious and shouldn't prevent me from studying overseas. I guess I'll just wait and see. -
Good Sign, Omen or Hallucination - All Are Welcome!

Yesterday I had a Skype interview and at the end they told me that I was admitted! I went to my university, came home, checked my email and found out that I've been accepted to yet another university (third acceptance during the week). I'd be really happy, but there are two reasons why I'm not. First, there's no info on funding yet, in neither school. Second, my life has changed SO drastically over the last two months, that I am not sure whether I can and/or want to go to study to the US anymore (personal reasons). It would've been funny if it wasn't so sad. I've been dreaming of being admitted to a US school for the last 5 years or so, and suddenly I'm not even happy to find out that I've been accepted. I do realize that most people would've been over the moon, having found out that they were admitted to, say, NYU. I am trying to persuade myself that I should be happy and proud of myself, but I can't... -
Hey, thank you for the answer! I've calmed down since yesterday and just going to wait patiently for further information:)

Thank you! Hope you'll get your admission soon!

NYU Steinhardt - Foreign Language Education It was an e-mail, I should have specified.

Hello everybody, I need to ask you for an advice. Today I received a letter from NYU saying that I've been admitted to their MA program. I was shocked, because I haven't expected any news till March. It was a letter from the Office of Graduate Admissions, not from the department, so there's no word on funding yet. What should I do now: wait for a letter from my department or write them myself first? Can't put my thoughts together, honestly...

This morning I was randomly checking the website for international students that I'm subscribed to (where all info on grants, scholarships, internships etc is listed) and ended up applying to yet another grad school It's in the UK, not in the US, and I have to say that the application process is WAY easier there! Let me just say that I was able to copy and paste the LORs by myself without bothering my referees, they didn't need my TOEFL score sent directly from ETS (at least for now), so I completed the whole application in less than an hour! AND there was no application fee whatsoever! Plus, after submitting it I received an e-mail saying that the adcom will review my application within 7 (s e v e n) days. So now I'm thinking: are such kind of miracles even possible?

All the best to you too! I hope you do get in! I've applied to three schools only, so my options are also limited.

Good luck with the interviews!! -
My problem too, unfortunately

Same here. Luckily, I have to get back to school only on Feb 12 (had exams during January), so I though I'd work on my bachelor's thesis during this free time. Ha, I wish! All I've been doing for the past 2 weeks was sending in my applications (late deadlines), anxiously checking my e-mail, sending missing materials, checking e-mail again and again and hanging out at this forum, of course

Hey guys Just wanted to talk to someone who understands the hardships of this admission process. I'm an international applicant, so it's even more difficult for me to get accepted to a program with funding. Only my mom and a close friend know that I'm applying this year. And both of them are sure that I will make it. However, I've been reading this forum for around 3 years now, and I know that I might get lucky or just as well might be left out in the cold. The deadlines for my programs are Feb 1st and 15th, so I know that I have at least one month of waiting ahead of me, and it's killing me already. I'm mentally preparing myself for another round of applications next year, but still trying to think positive (who knows, maybe it works when you're trying to imagine good things instead of bad? ) My mood changes drastically throughout the day: one minute I'm all self-confident, thinking that my chances are rather high, and the next I'm sure that nothing good will come out of this applications. I guess it's a common feature here And yeah, congrats to everyone who's already been accepted!!

I very much hope so. I need their funding badly though (I'm an international student, so sorry for possible mistakes and misprints, especially now when I'm nervous) Aww, thanks so much! I hope you're gonna move in your line very soon! -

You are so supportive here can I join you, adding a little bit of my anxiety? Yesterday I got an e-mail from the director of graduate studies of my dream program in reply to my letter where I sent some necessary docs to him. He wrote me a rather long nice letter, saying it was very good to hear from me again (we had a skype interview long before the admission process and he encouraged me to apply). So he sent me info on funding. Didn't offer it though, just told me where I can look for it (other departments, centers. etc). How do I interpret this? Is it a good sign or not-so-good? -
Yeah guys, you're definitely making me feel better Hope it all will work out great for you anyways!

I've been reading this forum for around 2 years... Preparing myself for applying to grad school, anxiously waiting for this time to come. And now I'm freaking out. I applied to all schools very late, like several weeks before the deadlines (Feb 1 and Feb 15). Still not sure whether they received all components of my application... Several LORs are definitely missing. I'm so angry with myself for procrastinating! I'm an international student who badly needs funding, so applying earlier would've definitely been better for me.

Grey's Anatomy, The Tudors (though I'm thinking about switching to Abbey instead), re-reading and re-watching Hobbit and LOTR. Oh, and also working on my bachelor's thesis.

Hi! I'm going to apply for Educational Linguistics and Applied Linguistics as well, but for Fall 2013. Would you mind sharing your stats and results here? I'd like to know what I should focus on during these 2 prep years before applying.
