  1. I have just declined a funded PhD offer at the University of Washington. Hope this helps one of you on the waitlist for first-year funding.
  2. lyoness, I've emailed Dr. Lesser twice and haven't gotten a response either. Not sure what the deal is as other schools that have waitlisted me have been very responsive and helpful.
  3. Any current Washington grad students out there? If so, I would love it if someone could PM me (I received an offer there and have a few questions). Thanks.
  4. Congrats on the waitlist! I just got my waitlist email as well. I'm a postcolonialist.
  5. The top bar/masthead should be "Admission," and then the first thing under that on the left-hand side is "Application Status," right above "View I-20 or DS2019 Status." But honestly, I don't think they're really using it. My page just says which program I applied to, the date they received my GRE scores, and that my transcript has not been received. Thanks!
  6. Yep, I'll claim it. I just got an email from the grad chair at the University of Michigan this morning saying I had been wait listed. The email noted that they have a smaller incoming class this year because they only admit students with a full six-year funding package. I haven't seen any admits yet either. I haven't replied to the email yet. Does anyone have advice for how to go about responding to these (this is my first)? I originally received a pretty short "good luck" response from my POI back in the fall, but I am wondering if wait listed applicants are expected to be in touch with their POIs to express interest again as well. I just got three rejections yesterday and was starting to resign myself to being rejected everywhere, so this feels a little better--although I'm worried I'll have my hopes up until mid-April for nothing. Gah, this process is driving me insane. Also: My status on Wolverine Access has not changed. But you are supposed to be able to see your status under "New and Prospective Student Business."
  7. Yep, it's the ApplyYourself page where you submitted the app--there's nothing special about the link they emailed out; I can get there from my bookmarked app. It'll have a link to the decision letter at the bottom of the page (under your recommenders list). If you don't have a decision status link then at least you know you haven't been rejected yet! Good luck!
  8. I got the email about an hour ago. Broadcast emails usually take a couple hours to send out depending on how many recipients there are (most systems will send in 25- to 50-person batches). But it just has you log into the ApplyYourself form, so you can probably check now if you have a link to a letter at the bottom of the application landing page when you log in.
  9. I went to Emory for undergrad and took a few graduate seminars along the way. I remember that during the campus visits some professors would realize that a prospective student's interests aligned quite nicely with a certain class session going on that day, and suggest that the applicant sit in on the class. It seemed as if just a handful of the prospectives would do this--not all. I'm not sure how much notice they received about it, because some of the students who sat in on my classes and were prompted to offer their opinion on a certain topic looked as if they felt that they were being put on the spot, and it seemed pretty uncomfortable at times. One of them said that they had found out about attending the class an hour beforehand. I think this practice is truly meant to help the prospective student get a feel for Emory, and is not supposed to be some kind of test. Just a heads up. By the way, Emory is a totally lovely place to be. Best of luck to all of you interviewing.
