  1. right at the top of my list! but I also have family issues that might get in the way so I'm working with my family to try to figure everything out. Congrats!!!
  2. went to my dentist--the PhD app process is stressing me out so much that I now grind my teeth in my sleep. Ouch.

It doesn't stop after apps, unfortunately.

  3. Georgetown Theology is out. I'm in! Their very nice letter takes the sting off the Chicago rejection a bit.
  4. Emory is out (check earlier posts); if you haven't heard give them a call. Harvard last year was out on February 27th, but might be delayed this year to next week. I hope to God it's not, in which case Harvard will come out tomorrow or Friday. One UCSB acceptance is out, so far as this forum is concerned. Maybe email them as well? Good luck to us all!
  5. university of chicago rejections are up. expected, but still stings.
  6. i'm waiting on islamic studies at the chicago div school. nothing.
  7. last year for Harvard my POI told me on Feb 23rd (a dark day indeed) and then I got the official email feb 27th. it's coming up. dun dun dun.
  8. ugh why is Harvard taking so long? Someone on here wrote they may not release til march...
  9. I'm still waiting on UChicago--has anyone gotten a rejection from them?
  10. yes, I'm in at columbia. Georgetown is trolling our google, just fyi for the pluralism applicants
  11. rejection, acceptance, and waiting--this phd game is more like dating than anything else!

      agreed, sad to say

  12. oh my gosh you guys, Academia is a dangerous business! just a few weeks and this whole shitshow is over, hamdulillah. fingers crossed none of us gets our hearts (or any other body part) broken.
  13. I've heard horror stories from all of my POI's who went there, and a good friend who is doing Hebrew literature there now. I didn't even bother applying--it would be like Reese Witherspoon at Harvard, but more so.
  14. I'm still freaking out about chicago. Either nobody got in from Jewish and Islamic subfields, or they are releasing in waves by subfield. My guess is the former, but I'm just in a pessimistic place about this whole process anyway. Emailed the school, and was told "Thanks for the note. In logistical terms, you will receive a system email (from the application interface) notifying you of a change in your application’s status and asking you to log in to view it. In terms of timing, we expect to release decisions in the very near future, but I’m not able to cite a precise date at this point." who wants to help me decipher this?
  15. are all the chicago results out? anyone here applied and heard back?
  16. I did not get hired. I got buuurned. But c'est la vie, and there is no way on earth I would have gone there anyway. Maybe they sensed that from the Interview. I HATE cities where you need a car, and the school has no graduate housing, barely any public transportation, and I'm a east-coast person all the way. Still. Zing.
  17. does anyone want to claim the UChicago div school rejection?
  18. I know. thanks for the heads up, but I'm pretty resigned to hearing in March. It's good to be home with family these last weeks!
  19. I know for a fact Harvard has had at least two meetings. (my POI) as to the timing of the final choices, only God knows. I wish us all the absolute best of luck. I cured my Emory rejection blues with Chipotle carnitas today, and let me tell you: it worked!
  20. sorry just going by historically (last year it was 27th feb). You're right that this year may be later--God forbid! But Columbia I was told by my POI is coming out in 10 days, and historically gtown comes out end of february as well.
