  1. i have an interview coming up in a few weeks and this info really helps! thanks so much for writing this all out.
  2. thanks everyone. that link helped a lot. lets continue to talk about this topic, i'm sure there are many nervous interviewees out there like me!
  3. I would agree that an in-person interview would be better and would help you really get to know the program/city well too. Also, are you good at phone interviews? I personally am not too great at phone interviews but I can handle in-person interviews pretty well. In-person interviews allow you to use body language and appearance to show confidence (or not), whereas during phone interviews, it is all about the content of what you are saying. think about these factors (maybe thinking back to past interviews you have done) and you might realize that you perform better in a certain type of interview. it seems, though, that taking the time to visit the school shows that you are very interested and committed to the school you are applying to, but then again, if you decide that you rock during phone interviews and bomb during in-person ones, it would be better to do the phone. I'm sure with preparation that you'll do great in either! hope this gets you thinking!
  4. Hi everyone, I got an interview for a social psych PhD program. It's one of my top choices, so I am very excited. Does anyone know, in general, how many people get invited to psych program interview days vs how many get accepted? Also, what can I expect from the weekend? Looking forward to your responses
  5. I know London School of Economics has Psych grad programs. I'm sure its quite expensive to live and go to school in London though.
  6. Thanks everyone... I sent it along, but since my Psych gpa is high on its own, i dont think its gonna matter too much. Good luck to us all!
  7. Hi everyone! I am applying to Social Psych PhD programs and I'm wondering if I should report my Subject score. I have a 700 (or was it 710?). None of the programs require a subject score. I don't even know how good my score is...there's barely any info out there. Is it a decent enough score to just add it to the score report, or should I not bother if its a so-so score? My general GRE score is 1350 combined. Some schools I'm applying to...UC Irvine, USC, UCRiverside, Berkeley, Stanford. Any thoughts...
  8. Does anyone have any info on UC Santa Barbara? There were a few posting on the results page, but not too many. I haven't heard either way, I called two weeks ago and they said the social psych dept was still making decision. It's getting late in the game, but I'm hanging on to the last bit of hope left. I'd appreciate any info!
  9. I envision myself jumping around alot - Then I'll run around the block, call every person I know, and begin introducing myself as "doctor" to everyone I see. I'll then quite my job in the near future and volunteer somewhere abroad for a few months. Can't wait!
