  1. i am currently finishing up my 2nd year of the msw program at columbia. i heard back on february 26 via email when i was accepted. i highly advise AGAINST this program for a variety of reasons, but one of them is the high cost. is it worth it? maybe if you're planning on staying in nyc. otherwise, i don't think so. because they accept so many students, the relationship with faculty is poor. also, there is only ONE advisor for all 800 students. the internship opportunities are great, but we work alongside hunter, nyu, and fordham students. bottom line: not worth it at all.
  2. can you change from columbia to nyu still? because columbia keeps accepting more and more students (nearly 450 master's students last year) individual attention is extremely hard to come by. if you have any ideas about what you want out of the program, make sure to advocate for yourself because no one else will be willing to help you. if you're clinical track, you're probably fine and there are many good intern opportunities. however, if you are in the policy or social enterprise and admin track, this school is NOT ideal. upenn, uchicago, uw-seattle, nyu etc. are all much better.

columbia housing is not free by any means. i chose to live in the cheapest housing (i.e. dorm style) and it's $950 a month -- all utilities included.
