  1. I just got my letter from WSU detailing my TA package. I'm so excited! I'm from a small town, went to undergrad in a small town, and am completely stoked about getting into a grad school in another small town. However, I'm sure that small town Washington is different from small town Missouri. Can't wait!
  2. I received an email from the head of a graduate English program offering me full tuition waiver, sizable stipend and a one time books stipend. Their offer is far better than my others, so I want to decline them quickly in order to open up spots for other applicants, but I still haven't received my official packet from the school with the great offer. The email was an informal and personal back and forth type thing and not from the graduate school, but just the English dept.'s graduate director. Should I decline my other offers (one funded, two unfunded) or should I wait until I get the official acceptance in the mail (which could take two weeks given my small town's postal reputation)?
  3. My status was updated yesterday and I got my rejection letter in the mail today. Bummer. Good luck to those still in the running!
  4. Good point. I'm just frustrated by the misinformation I've received and combined with all the stress of doing well I'm my last few weeks of undergrad, I'm assuming the worst.
  5. That's probably because you were accepted. My guess is that the rest of us were rejected? That's atleast my Negative Nancy take on it.
  6. I called Sue (again) and was told that those who have not received notification will eventually have our GAMES page updated to"A decision has been made" but will not receive our actual admission status until we receive a letter. This seems extremely indure to me, but I guess they make the rules.
  7. UNL YOU'RE KILLING ME.

  8. Me either! I'm sitting in a poetry class refreshing the page on my phone.
  9. Congratulations! That's wonderful news. I see you were accepted to Mizzou too (that's just down the road from my undergrad institution). Hooray for the midwest! I just called Sue Hart about when we would receive notifications and she was quite cheerful in saying "I'm working on it! I should get everything loaded in just a few minutes." I hope that's true! I'll be waiting patiently at my computer until then.
  10. I've heard alot about budget issues as well. I'm a English Lit person too and I'm still waiting to hear from four schools. According to my department, their funding committee initially said they would get back to them about figures on April 16th! Obviously that wouldn't work with the April 15th deadline, so one of our sterner faculty members had a talk with them and sped things along. Still, all this waiting has been excruciating.
  11. Thanks for the heads up! By Tuesday they mean tomorrow, I assume? Good luck to everyone and I hope we all get funded acceptances this week!
  12. Yes, my apologies. In my flustered state I mispoke/typed. Anyway, none of the Lit applicants have heard back (according to the results board), but I do know that the Rhet/Comp and Lit people often send out responses separately.
  13. I saw on the results board that some Rhet/Comp. people received acceptances/rejections already, but what about the English applicants? Any news for us?
  14. According to their academic calendar, UNL isn't on spring break until the 20th, so we might still hear from them this upcoming week. I'm a little on edge because my school's spring break was this past week and I got no news from anyone, while I was sitting by my mailbox patiently. But let's try to keep our chins up, mh1! There's still time! Hopefully all acceptances rolling in next week!
  15. I'm definitely worried about that. I still have four schools I'm waiting on at this point so if I'm still in the dark by the time we go to Ithaca, it will drive me crazy. I guess that's why everyone at NCUR gets sloshed when they aren't in conferences?
  16. I saw an acceptance on the results page. Anyone want to claim it?
  17. Four responses and then weeks of silence. I have my fingers crossed for my four remaining schools.

  18. I should mention that I have NOT been accepted. Just asked to fill out this background check.
  19. I'm getting antsy because last year they started sending results out on March 1st. My other schools won't be getting back to me until quite a bit later, so I'm really hoping to hear from UNL this week. Anyone have any updates?
  20. I was asked to fill out a form for a background check for the GTA position several weeks ago, but still haven't heard from them. Anyone else applying to their English MA program?
  21. They're probably my top choice, but I think funding is doubtful there. Anyone else hoping to be a cornhusker?
  22. Great! What are you presenting and what is your undergrad institution?Maybe we can check out eachother's sessions for a little IRL grad cafe support! I'm from Truman State, by the way.
  23. Just wondered if anyone else was presenting at NCUR (National Conference of Undergraduate Research). I'm presenting "Double Shot Demands and Ristretto Requests: Gendered Politeness in Coffee Shop Orders".
  24. Thanks for keeping on top of this stuff, guys! I got accepted with my BA and don't have teaching experience...so I doubt I'll get funding when there are so many better qualified candidates out there. My main appeal is my spirit/spunk, which I feel I communicated well in my application. I'm seriously thrilled about the prospect of introducing English Studies to students who have less than high hopes for the course. I know that's silly and nerdy, but hey, I'm on these boards so that's expected, right? =)
  25. One acceptance and two rejects...and now silence until mid-march? Bummer.
