Hello there, Could you please tell me if there is any assistantship available in PSU for Masters? My wife got admission in the MS (thesis) program of PSU in ECE department from Fall 2011 quarter. She is from the signal processing background and contacted with Prof. Lisa Zurk for her NEAR Lab. Lisa initially was very optimistic until recently her reply is getting disappointing. Since, I have got a fellowship in the EE dept. of Stanford it will be much relieved for me that my wife lives in the west coast. Since I am an international applicant I can bring her using F-2 dependent visa but that I dont want to do in the first place because that will create a chance of her carrier not flourished in a way that it should be. Your thoughtful reply and suggestions will help me a lot since you are experiencing the Masters in PSU.

Hello everyone, I have been offered a departmental fellowship to stanford EE PhD program for 3 quarters. The stipend amount is 8100USD per quarter. I am an international applicant. Now I have a few questions. What is cheaper, On-campus/off-campus housing? Is it possible to manage a housing below 1000 per month rent? Does a student have the opportunity to work in Summer? If yes then how? My main concern is another one. I am married. It would be relieving for me if my Spouse accompany me. In that case, will the funding be adequate? How should I obtain an I-20 for her from the university? Does the university support in this regard? I am very much worried about this issue. I had another fellowship offer from University of Maryland College Park where they were willing to supplement the expense for spouse. However, I turned that down because of my dream to study in Stanford. Now I am confused whether I have taken a big risk. If in case I could not manage to bring my spouse in the Fall quarter, is there any possibility that I can bring her in the subsequent quarters? Is there any international student planning to join stanford with spouse?If there is one, please share your ideas with me. Now that we shall be attending the same institution, I am feeling a friendly air in sharing my problems with you guys.

Hi, I am an international applicant and got admission to the PhD program of Stanford EE for Fall 2011. The admission e-mail was dated 16 February and mentioned that funding decision will be available by no later than 20 april. The deadline is approaching near and still no news from stanford. I am getting worried. Specially I have other two offers, one from Univ. of Maryland College Park (Fellowship) and the other is from Purdue (TAship). The deadline for me to accept/decline my offer there is april 15. So now i am in a very vulnurable situations. are anyone facing similar situations? Does anyone know whether all the phd students of stanford ee gets fund from the start??

No, I haven't heard anything from them. Mailed them several times and they replied same. Still no decisions has been made (!!).

I have experienced that Cornell ECE is taking very long time in notifying the decision on application. I am expecting notification which is yet to be made (as per the graduate office ) and also seeing that posts are erratic in the gradcafe regarding Cornell ECE admission decision, although for other programs the post rate seems to be normal. Does anyone know why is this happening? Should I wait for their decision till April 15?

I have been given admission to the PhD program of Stanford University Electrical Engineering. The admission e-mail came on February 16. In that mail it was mentioned that decisions regarding financial assistantship would be notified by no later than April 20 (!!!???) and they are in the process of assigning fellowships. Now its almost end of march and I have not heard anything from them. I have mailed a several times and they asked me to keep patience. I am worried whether I shall get any financial assistantship or not. Is there anyone facing similar situation? Since no RA or TA is available in the first quarter in stanford, what is the possibility of getting any fund in the PhD program?? I have also a TA offer from Purdue and Fellowship offer from University of Maryland-College park. So I need to decide what should I do. Should I wait??
