  1. That's great. Which field did you choose fro your research?
  2. I come from Croatia and I have a background in IT, software engineering to be precise.
  3. 25% really? I was trying to find that info but never managed to. what are are you coming from?
  4. Hey, I've just replied to the PM.
  5. I guess so. I'm somehow hoping the wait won't extend (too much) into March, I sort of got the feeling that they send out their opinions by the end of February. Though on the other hand, judging by last year's threads it might indeed be March. In the meanwhile, I've been trying to find out more about RA positions. Seems that everyone gets such positions but I dunno if this can cover the whole costs - do you maybe know anything about that?
  6. Do you think that they've already done some prescreening then? Did you apply somewhere else?
  7. Hi, I haven't managed to find a single thread dedicated to Technology and policy program at MIT so I started this thread for all of us who are applying or have already applied. How many of you out there are interested in this program?
  8. I am applying to a master programs in technology policy and/or public policy. Two of them in the US and two in the UK. Could you please have a look at my recommenders choice and comment on it: 1) my mentor for UG and grad school: I have been working with him for the last 2.5 years and we have an excellent relationship. He is now a member of faculty but also has a rich research experience and a high-ranking political position (in the past). He is also an alumni of one of the schools I intend to apply for 2) my other supervisor at school, who is a department head and has a lot of research experience, international reputation, a previous tenure at a US uni and is a former university rector and an education government minister 3) a friend and a work colleague who I worked with for a year and still do at an international project. He has insight in my work ethic and his professional experience is also applicable to my degrees. I will also get a 4th LOR from my previous job at UNDP - however, here I am unsure who should I have to sign it - the office head or the manager of the portofolio in which I worked? thank you for all comments.
  9. Hi guys, I've been told by some admits that there are many tiny details that I/my recommenders should take care about when writing LORs. Obviously things like calling me by my first name, referencing my academic and research potential etc. etc. But there's also things like using certain words and similar stuff (for instance saying that a student is an excellent student is bad and they should always use something stronger). I'm slightly worried about this as all my recommenders will be non-native English speakers and while I trust their academic and professional knowledge I am not so sure about their English. Any advice? Thx!
  10. Thx
  11. grad school apps!!!

  12. Hi, I was wondering about the preferred length of my CV for a masters applications (engineering + public policy degree). Do you think 3 pages is too much? How detailed should it be? Thx.
  13. Hi everyone, I am currently working on apps for programs in public policy with a focus on science and technology governance/policy issues. I would appreciate if anyone could comment on my choices and chances. I would be happy to share my experiences and thoughts as well. So my background is the following: academia: I have a BSc in Software Engineering and Information Systems from the best school in the country (Croatia) and I'm currently doing a Masters in the same area. My thesis is interdisciplinary, a combination of ICT policies and political science. My engineering background gives me a fair amount of quant courses, though I am slightly worried about my GPA which is 4.3 on a 5.0 scale. I also have some basic knowledge of economics, management, risks management and environmental issues. workexperience: I have a year worth's experience of leading a UN's business network affiliated to the local UNDP office and I hope to continue this till the end of my Masters (which should be in a year), before that I did an internship at UNDP (corporate social responsibility). I have a fair amount of civil society and leadership experience (leading NGOs, all managing positions - from education, fundraising to team management), MUNs, democracy development, work with youth, organising conferences. In my first undergrad year I was hired as an external associate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. GRE/TOEFL quant: 710, verbal: 470, AW: 5.0 TOEFL: 117 I also have a number of certificates in other languages I speak (5 of them) programs: I am looking at the following programs: HKS - MPP MIT - Technology and public policy MIT - political science Berkley - MPP Stanford - International Legal Studies LSE Cambridge U - Science and technology MPhil
  14. I guess the increased number of apps will cause a delay after all.
  15. Maybe we should just let it go and not allow it to bother us. The results will come when they decide to release them and we can't do anything about it but go on with our normal lives in the meantime. How about that!?
  16. Could it really be that the results will not come in today?
  17. I'm an international applicant, though not from as far as India. Europe in my case
  18. Thank you for keeping up with the craze linden. I was wondering, could anyone comment on chances of getting in with only undergrad + extensive work experience during undergrad years. I know the stats say it's possible and a 10% or so students are such in the MPP. Any thoughts?
  19. Do you think they'll call today? I mean, isn't the drill that they first send out mails and then comes the phon-a-ton in the following days?
  20. Still, Friday does have a very good standing on the pools  Would it by any chance be possible to get some more inside info from JFK, just to see if anything's stirring in the JFK-kingdom?
  21. Oh thank you , I already thought we'll have to wait till night...
  22. Do you really think we'll have to wait until night that they send it? Wouldn't it make more sense that if they want to do it, they'll do it during working hours?
  23. Thank you. I guess something would be written on my Volverin account if I were rejected, or would it?
