  1. $35K would still be a massive stipend. Students at Berkeley and UCLA live reasonably well on stipends that are half that.
  2. Lots of programs overlap classics and religion. UBC http://cnrs.ubc.ca/ FSU http://religion.fsu.edu/graduate_fields.html#rwa UNC http://religion.unc.edu/graduate-studies/specialization/ancient-mediterranean-religions Brown http://www.brown.edu/academics/religious-studies/graduate/doctoral-tracks-phd/religions-ancient-mediterranean-ram UT Austin http://www.utexas.edu/cola/depts/rs/graduate/areas/ancient-Mediterranean.php etc. There's several interdisciplinary programs that combine classics and art history. Johns Hopkins http://classics.jhu.edu/graduate/interdepartmental-phd-program-in-classical-art-and-archaeology/ Penn http://www.sas.upenn.edu/aamw/ Berkeley http://ahma.berkeley.edu/ Michigan http://www.lsa.umich.edu/ipcaa/ Chicago http://arthistory.uchicago.edu/graduate/ancient-art etc. Interdisciplinary ancient history (classics and history) programs are also pretty popular. Penn Ancient History, Chicago PAMW, Michigan Greek & Roman History, etc.
  3. Good luck. Hopefully we'll hear soon.
  4. Who else applied? Has anyone heard back yet? I applied for North American archaeology.
