  1. Umm, anthropology, which is why this is in the anthropology forum.....
  2. I saw several acceptances on the results board (including me). Now the big question, who is planning to go? For the record, I'm considering it.
  3. I don't know about U of I or IU's enrollment policy, but at some schools you only pay tuition if you are actually taking classes, so semesters/years of field work are not paid to the university (the catch being that field work costs money, but that is somewhat easier to find funding for). Other schools have continuous enrollment requirements where you pay tuition no matter if you are in residence or not, which would suck if you were unfunded. I know this doesn't help with the first or second years at all, but it is something to think/ask about.
  4. Agree with the comments on fit and SOP; however, I have some thoughts about LORs. A professor I know said she would never say no to writing a letter for someone. What would vary is the strength of her letter. That said, everyone probably has good letters, what you need is someone who will write you a great one. As far as waiving rights to view them, I think cultural law and orthodoxy win out in my opinion.

    CUNY

I've heard that this is the way CUNY works, but I love the department. Fingers crossed...

    CUNY

So, last week I received an email from the adcom chair at CUNY informing me I had been waitlisted. Since then several people have posted other waitlists as well as acceptances on the results board. This is the first time waitlists have been mentioned for CUNY anthro on gradcafe. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about how their waitlist works (e.g. is it ranked or based on fit with a POI, etc) and if people have gotten in off the waitlist in the past. Thanks.
