      exactly! So what should I do? I don't want them to be angry with me, but I really do want to get going with my own life.

      Are you paying the application fees? If so I really don't see why you have to do what your parents want. Even if they are paying the fees, it's your life and at some point you're going to have to live it your way. Perhaps as a compromise you could apply to some schools you want and some that your parents want (that you'd want to go to as well).

      You're going to grad school to acquire a profession that will be with you for years to come. You should get the best education you can, and you should be happy with your choices. Don't let your parents prevent you from making the best decisions for yourself.
