  1. that sucks! i guess there are no guarantees. it'll be interesting to see who they DID accept!
  2. fatty, as in a rj in a misleadingly thick envelope? i'm waiting for my letter up in canada.
  3. Apparently USC notifies waitlist-ees as well as acceptances by snail mail, so if you got an interview you might still be ok. My only saving grace might be that i'm from Canada, and maybe, just maybe they don't interview international types. But that is the end of my optimist streak for USC.
  4. i vote 'free and unranked' partly because that's what's happened, and i'm soooo relieved to be able to work steadily for two years for free. ...although, it's not technically an unranked school, it's actually one of the highest ranked programs in Canada. but since we're talking American rankings....
  5. Ya... if you look at that person's post history, it looks as if that might have been a typo or something of the like... weird business. USC was pretty clear that they hadn't made any kind of selection yet. And someone else on this board believes that USC usually does interview, so it'll probably be invites to interview we'll be getting soon. (Hopefully!) USC Roski's ph# is 213-740-2787 (ask for the grad office) if you want to ask them about it. They're a friendly bunch. Oh, and, "The Office of Admission provides official notification of admission decisions by mail only." So they tell me.
  6. hey, here's some info on a few canadian schools - guelph has made their choices, but you might be on a waitlist if you haven't heard back concordia fibres and i think either new media or mixed media has made offers already UWO has made their choices too. (i know all this through my own and friends' acceptances) don't be shy about contacting the schools by phone to find out about waitlists, that's what they hire admin people for! good luck!
  7. does anyone know if USC always/sometimes/never interviews? i have an upcoming deadline to accept or turn down another school's offer, and am hoping that USC just skips the whole time-consuming interview process. thanks!
  8. congrats! where do you think you'll end up going? i'd love to see your work.
  9. ...and now, an e-mail update from USC: "We have received your application and other supporting materials. Our evaluators will conduct an academic evaluation of your file shortly and we will notify you if further information or materials are required. If not, your application will be forwarded to your graduate department for their review and admission decision. The Office of Admission provides official notification of admission decisions by mail only. Because of the varied factors involved in the graduate department review process, we cannot give you an estimate of when you might expect the decision."
  10. For the USC applicants, I just phoned both Roski and the general graduate department, and no decisions at all have been made, but people should start receiving calls by mid-March. (Which might mean next week?)
  11. I'm in sculpture. I wouldn't worry - this info shows on my slideroom before I even log in, at the bottom of the page. I think it's a general notice for the jury's use, and I doubt it has anything to do with anyone specifically! But it does probably mean we won't hear anything until the end of the month.
  12. If you are a USC roski MFA applicant waiting to hear back, maybe you've noticed this too... In the USC slideroom, on the log-in page there is a drop-down for active programs. It says Programs > MFA 2011 finalists submit 1-5 pieces deadline 03/31/11 fee; $5 ... I reckon this means that the MFA jury will decide by the 31st, using 1-5 select works from each finalist in their decision... maybe... do you think that's right? The 31st is a long way off yet!
  13. is anyone else still waiting on USC? any idea if they've made their choices yet?
  14. NYU steinhardt rejection e-mail this morning
