  1. I hear East Rock is pretty much the place to live for grad students, so thats probably where I'll be looking the most.
  2. Officially accepted today. Very excited, though I'm hoping New Haven isn't as terrible as some say it is.
  3. First, I know nothing about academic art studies, but when given 3 good choices, I would easily chose the one with the most funding. I can also say that UNC and CMU are great places to live and work.
  4. I would 100% go with the funding. I'm sure GW is also a respected school, and you can always say you turned down Harvard.
  5. Just curious if anyone has strong feelings about this. I know it's generally good to 'get out there' and get different connections and experiences, but in my situation its a bit more complicated. For a PhD I got into my undergrad (a #1 program in Earth Science) and an Ivy league that is not as highly ranked. On top of that, I've already gotten my master's at an entirely different school, so in some sense I've already branched out a bit. Very unsure about which is better... but there are definitely worse problems to have.
  6. There are infinite mediocre apartments in Chapel Hill, so don't worry about not having a place to stay. The recommendations above are pretty good, but if you can swing it, I'd try to get a duplex or something through the smaller property companies. There are a surprising number of small houses etc. that can be found for very similar prices as apartments, even within walking distance to campus. Also- get a place North of 15-501... south Carrboro (the Villages, Rock Creek, etc) has no bike path to town and vastly more expensive electric bills for some reason.
