No, there won't be communication between your SSHRC and the school you want to go to at this stage as far as I know. If you are awarded the SSHRC but declined from the program, you can leverage your SSHRC and still try to gain admission. I would wait it out. At this point you haven't been awarded anything so it will look kind of silly to approach the grad program with this.

last year it was first reported to be April but ended up being May - try looking up the 2011-2012 thread. good luck!

thank you... glad to know I'm not the only one waiting!

Hi all, September start date here - is it normal to have not received anything yet? When can I expect my first payment? I'm at UofT.

Also wanted to say thank you to everyone for the ideas. My biggest vices are eating out and buying clothes. I have soooo many clothes, though, so I will try not to buy any until January. I will buy new winter boots though. Also, I'll be buying a mini fridge to keep my groceries organized and separate from my roomates (save for the communal freezer), which I know will encourage me to use everything up. I'm planning to cook in batches and freeze. I can make a ground beef curry in an hour and it'll yield about 6 meals - things like that. I'm also in the habit of freezing individual chicken breasts which encourages me to cook them. Also I hang most of my clothes to dry, so I bought a drying rack for $15 for my dorm. That way I will be able to hang all my clothes instead of just most.

I think it's fine. Good luck!

I sent everything in but I'm not expecting anything until September, maybe even late August. Did you all request May start dates?
-
agreed. I would have done it after 30 days + a week actually.
-
i emailed the day i got my letter (monday) to accept, asking them for a reply to confirm they received it. after the immediate auto-reply, i got a personal reply the next day that they had received the email and put a copy into my file. so yes, i think you should email again and ask for confirmation, unless you emailed it on, say, Friday and in that case i'd wait a few more days.

Seriously. I feel like a million bucks with this thing in my hands.

Congrats all! Glad this thread is buzzing with good news!

I think for the OGS results you just check online and then expect your snail mail.
-

Question (if anyone has an answer) about $10k award for 2 terms and $15k award for 3 terms - if I am awarded the OGS and I start school in September, and I am studying full time for 2 terms from Sept to April, and summer may be part-time with a required internship course - does that mean I'd qualify for the $10k scholarship?
-
That sounds fine to me. Good luck! In the last sentence though, I would change "to beginning" to "to studying" or something similar.
