  1. I haven't gotten the unfriendly impression; the people I've spoken with have always been polite. Has it been different for you? Inefficient certainly seems like a fair characterization though. At least it's not just us!
  2. It certainly isn't free, especially since it more or less requires you have SPSS, but you won't find a better primer on statistics than Field's Discovering Statistics using SPSS. Field's writing is really intuitive and entertaining and I've never seen the topic discussed in such an approachable way. If you plan on using SPSS even moderately, or just want a really good review of really useful stats., there is no better investment than this book.

Hi Spade20k, I know you were asking someone else, but I'm currently an undergrad at UT (and waiting for a decision here as well) living in Far West and I thought I'd chime in. I think just about any place in Far West is good (though I've heard both very good and very bad about Acacia Cliffs), but I do have two places I'd like to highlight. First: absolutely do not live in Oak Hollow. The space is tempting for the price, but my girlfriend lived there last year and we can let you know firsthand this is a terrible choice; as I write this she chimes in: "it's dirty, has bad management, is falling apart...[expletive deleted], [expletive deleted]". The second, Westdale Pointe, is where I live now, where I plan to continue living if I get into UT, and where I tell everyone to live when they are looking for apartments. The rent is cheap (though going up a bit next semester); the apartments are nice with good layouts, the management is friendly and responsive; girlfriend: "it's safe, quiet..."; the bus stop for the bus to campus is right across the street from the apartment entrance (and during the day the bus runs about every 15 minutes, and is a 10-20 minute ride to campus depending on traffic; i've never been late due to the bus system); there is a major grocery store down the street, possibly visible from your apartment depending on which you get; and, if it matters to you, it's very dog friendly. All in all, it's fantastic. Good luck apartment hunting!
  4. Oh okay. Same here! Best of luck with the application from here on out!
  5. Ah, well that's good new then, I suppose. Did you inquire or did they send you that email unprompted? Also, who are you applying to work with?
  6. Hi all, Long-time lurker, first-time poster. I applied to the University of New Mexico's PhD program in Evolutionary Psych. and am really confused as I have yet to hear even a peep from them. I received an email letting me know they were missing one of my transcripts (and sent them another), and so I thought that may be delaying things. But, it still feels unusually late to have still not heard anything at all regarding my decision status or even whether my application was reviewed at all, and I've seen no results posted in the "results search" section either. I'm not optimistic this late in the game, but would like some closure. Has anyone heard anything at all from this school?
