  1. I was in your shoes exactly one year ago. I had similar statistics with a slightly better GRE to yours when applying to civil programs this past fall ( GRE: Q800 V520, AWA 4.5 GPA 3.59 (In Major 3.94)). I was admitted into the four schools that I applied to which where MIT, VT, UT-Austin, and Illinois-Urbana Champaign. I would think that you would be competitive to get into those schools with your current stats. I got the impressions from people who visited Cal last spring that there wasn't much if any funding for master leve students.
  2. Undergrad Institution: State School, good engineering reputation Major(s):Civil and Environmental Engineering Minor(s): GPA in Major: 3.95 Overall GPA: 3.59 Length of Degree: 4 Position in Class: top 20% Type of Student: Male, Instate GRE Scores: Q: 800 V: 520 W: 4.5 Research Experience: 1 semester (going on second) Awards/Honors/Recognitions: Dean's Lists, Scholarships etc. Pertinent Activities or Jobs: Internships, Club Officer Any Miscellaneous Accomplishments that Might Help: GPA over last 60 credits is 3.95 Applying to Where: UIUC (Accepted), Texas (Accepted), Virginia Tech (Accepted), MIT (Waiting, but pretty sure I will get in)
  3. It's my understanding as a Virginia Tech undergrad that Tech tries to fund every masters student. This is certianly the case in Environmental and Water Resources. Not to sure about structures, transportation, construction etc.
  4. I registered just to post. I applied to and was accepted to U Illinois UC, Virginia Tech, and UT Austin for an MS in Environmental Engineering. I currently attend Virginia Tech and know that the CEE Department has already had an open house for structures and the Environmental and Water Resources open house for admits is 2 weeks from now. Good luck. I am still waiting on MIT.
