  1. Anyone apply or attend the program?
  2. Isn't Pacific pending candidacy? That's great that they will have such an amazing faculty this early on!
  3. Anybody accepted to GWU? I haven't heard anyone mention them on the boards. If you have been accepted, are you going? I'm trying to decide whether to accept or not.
  4. Has anyone ever head of someone transferring programs? Do any programs even allow this? Just curious...
  5. So, I know everyone is really stressed out about applications and thought you would need a break to de-stress. I wanted to share a great resource with all of you. I just joined Pinterest and found there to be a wealth of information on SLP apps, SLP blogs, creative therapy ideas for phonological awareness, articulation, and social skills groups, as well as reading comprehension and parent handouts. I was amazed by how much has been shared on the site and am excited to start implementing some of the ideas at the clinic I work at. I thought each of you would enjoy perusing the information as well. So join, start creating boards and happy pinning!...and good luck with your applications!!
  6. Has anyone considered pursuing another Masters degree? I'm actually thinking about an MPH. The programs don't seem nearly as competitive. Heck, I can get into Harvard and be rejected from every SLP program...lol.
  7. Does anyone have any information or know anyone in FSU's distance program? Any opinions, good or bad, of the program are appreciated.
  8. Attended GWU open house today. They are admitting 34 people...about half re-entry and half first year. Good luck to all those who applied.
  9. Is anyone applying to UDC and/or know anything about the program? What about Tennessee State's online program?
  10. I'd love to trade SOPs as well if anyone wants to PM me. I'd love constructive criticism!
  11. Has anyone been or planning on going? If you have attended, what was it like and did you find it worthwhile?
  12. Has anyone been to an open house at GWU or planning on going? If so, what was it like? Did you get to interact with the faculty?
  13. Has anyone that has applied to GWU been notified of a decision? If so, how were you notified and what were your stats? Thanks!
  14. The graduate assistantships are through student activities, not the SLP department, so I'm not sure it would matter. When I wrote my letter of continued interest to the program director, I had told her that I was a finalist for two graduate assistantships...and then yesterday I receivedthe rejection email from her. I'm not sure what else I can do...email again? She said the class was full. I just cannot believe that I would have had the opportunity to have everything paid for....I mean, it's once in a lifetime. I just don't understand.
  15. P.S. It is an online class, too.
  16. The University of South Florida-Sarasota is offering a physical science class this summer...I believe it is Intro to Environmental Sciences. My professor says it counts as a physical science. Do you know how we can tell if a class counts as this? I have taken Oceanography, but I don't know if that counts.
  17. This may be a stupid question, but if a waitlist is unranked how do schools choose who gets in? Pull names out of a hat?
  18. The University of South Florida has a great online prerequisite curriculum. I just completed mine. Utah State has a great, and very afforable, program as well, but they require that you have your exams proctored. Congratulations on Northeastern!
  19. Where were you accepted, Gretel? Have you made a final decision yet?
  20. I am one of those in the unfortunate situation of not being accepted anywhere. I'm done with my postbaccalaureate classes (with a 3.9 GPA), and have tons of volunteer experience in SLP (created and organized an Aphasia support group in my community, interned under an SLP for a year, volunteered at a Faast Trac Center that provided SLP patients with software options to overcome aphasia) . I've tried to become certified as an Slpa in Georgia, but no one will hire me anywhere (I've written to and called every SLP practice within a 50 mile radius of Atlanta). I did have a low undergraduate GPA (2.97) due to extenuating circumstances that I explained in my statement of purpose, but had 3 great LORs and a great postgrad GPA. I know I am venting, but I am so heartbroken. I have no job, no prospects for school, and I feel like I've wasted the past two years of my life volunteering and taking these classes. I'm 27 and so passionate about doing this as a career, but I'm trying to muster up the courage to wait through another long year just to go through this all over again. I am praying that I am taken off the one waitlist that I was lucky enough to be added to.
  21. Just got waitlisted at Georgia State University. If you got accepted there and don't want your spot, let them know! Congratulations to everyone!
