  1. So I still have not heard anything from the graduate program I applied for. I see no results on the results page here, but it's a relatively small program (generally around 30 applicants) so it's possible no one else that applied is on here. It says on the general admissions site for the college that in mid april if you still haven't heard to contact the department, even though it may take until mid-may for decisions to be made.

So my question is who do I contact? My poi (whom I met with before I applied, and he helped perfect my application)? The department secretary? Department coordinator? Department academic advisor?

    Thanks in advance. :)

  2. I'm still waiting on the only school I applied to. This is getting annoying now. Ugh. Any decision would be fine with me. Maybe the late February 01 deadline is what's holding everything up.

I'm in the exact same boat. If it's a no, just tell me so I can start searching for a job. Last I heard my program was arguing about money, and there's no results on the results page. :/

  3. Some of those schools you mentioned are very competitive and a 3.12 might will stand out to those adcoms. I would first decide if you want to do cognitive neuroscience OR behavioral neuroscience, you can't do both. Also, you may want to get a little more research experience.

Chances are really hard to gauge for anyone though.

This. So much of it comes down to your individual research interest and how they match the research interests of the professors in the program. There's also funding issues, etc, etc.

  4. I'm still waiting on NINE schools. I recommend doing some searching on the results board, because in my case, I learned that most of my schools didn't notify last year until at least march 15, and at the latest April 26 (!!!). I have an acceptance deadline of April 15, so I figure I will seriously wait until April 14 if I have to, just to see what other offers come in. But I seriously am stalking my mailperson. And don't even get me started on how many times a day I check my email. I feel your pain, but give yourself at least until March 15 before you email schools to ask for status. I bet you'll have a response or two (at least) by then).

I totally relate to the compulsive email checking. I have a smart phone, so it should automatically come through and put the nice little icon in the corner of my screen when I have a new email. Somehow, I've lost faith in that, so now I log into my email account through my phone to make sure that it is correct in saying nothing came through. I feel neurotic, lol.

  5. Your "get a puppy" line made me laugh! I refuse to email my department to find out what's going on. I met with my POI in September, he helped me perfect my personal statement, and reviewed everything before I applied, and showed a lot of interest. I've checked the results page on here religiously, and it appears no one from that division has heard anything. So I just try to stay busy, and of course have the occasional worry session.

  6. Having been to Camden for concerts a handful of times, all I can tell you is that the town is notorious for high crime. The waterfront is nice though and it's directly across from Philly, so you may want to consider living in Philly and commuting...

This is solid advice. Camden has been on the most dangerous cities in the US list consistently since 2002 (almost always in the top 3 at that). There's a significant level of poverty and unemployment which contributes to the crime. If it were me, I'd look at on-campus housing options or thoroughly read reviews of apartments before deciding where to live.
