  1. Hey guys: Anyone visiting Indiana next weekend? (And anyone from New York?)
  2. In response to sherryglass's original post: the CUNY GC has a good reputation. It's ranked 23, I think (with schools like Indiana-Bloomington), but it really depends on what you want to study. There are only a couple of really strong Americanists (which is why I may turn down my acceptance), but if you're doing something like British Modernism, you may have an easier time.
  3. wait: so, if we're still pending, we've been rejected? those of you who have been waitlisted: what's your admission status online?
  4. For all of you guys that are still "pending" (like me!) I wouldn't give up all hope. I know lots of schools this year have been making decisions in pieces, and there have been a couple of wait-lists up in the last couple of days, which wouldn't be too bad. Anyways, good luck!
  5. Hey guys. I'm planning on studing late eighteenth and nineteenth century American literature, with a particular focus on intersections of racial pseudoscience and literature. So far, I've gotten into the CUNY Grad Center, waitlisted at UPenn, and rejected from Yale and (bleh!) UPitt. I think you can do great things with both Chicago and MLA, but I prefer Chicago.
  6. Congrats to all accepted! I figure Columbia's going to accept one (maaaayybe two or three) people from each field of study/time period. Would those of you who were accepted mind posting about what period/topic you intend to research? Maybe the rest of us can get an idea of what our odds are...
  7. congrats, jeff! i've also applied there, but haven't heard back. is there any info you (or anyone else, for that matter) could give me about the size of the program, or funding? dalia
