  1. hi,anyone off the waitlist international student? I wonder when can we start filling up our financial form in order to speed up the I20 form process. I've already paid my deposit. emailed the admission about this and housing...but nobody reply...looking forward to your help. btw, I'm thinking peabody terrace for housing. Am I right on the point that dorm rate actually won't cause much less than apartment shared at Peabody because meals are usually mandatory for dorm applicants. I'm a chinese girl who loves cooking~~~~Like to hear your advice
  2. Got in this morning off the waitlist and just paid the deposit. Good luck everyone!
  3. Got in Harris too. no funding. SIPA and Harris, which one is more expensive? I mean by living expenses...btw, I'm also waitlisted by HKS which is my top choice at first hand. Can anyone give me some suggestions? Paying deposit to one school means declining other two right? I'm an international student, so this is even more complicated right regarding visa predures. There is no way to choose one of the ads and wait for hks right?...thanks for anyone who can kindly provide any info on this deposit thing. thanks.
  4. I got in SIPA as the last 9% ... it was tough waiting, but nothing compare to this. At least they update their blog timely for information on the process. But for CHicago...things are working in an entirely different and ugly way...I thought they should be transparent than any other schools.
  5. Can you stop by and ask them if they are okay with everything?...Are they still working on our stuff?
  6. HOw big is the Harris mpp program? I called them and no one answers the phone. Don't they have sth as a waitlist? Or they are just don't have time to send all the rejections??????? This is so weird. Can some close to CHicago give them a call or maybe stop by and see what they are doin right now.
  7. i mean campus view...
  8. If they are not ready, why send the update ... this is weird...just got a question to kill some time: SIPA and Harris, which has the better campus...
  9. Can someone tell me how to remain on HKS waitlist? I have responded to the decision email long time ago. But there wasn't any feedback. Did anyone in my foot do anything to confirm in the SPARK system. Do we have to do that on SPARK anyway...thank you
  10. I think they have sent out all the offers in the first wave...have they? those with dean scholarship...so the rest are probably just ad and rejs...
  11. for guys still waiting out there. The latest message I got from the admission officer(not Matt) is that HOPEFULLY they o send the rest by the end of this week. Still on three categories: ad,rej and waitlist. If not then ...U know what's gonna happen...another one week. Let's get ourselves busy with angry birds and stuff instead of checking emai every five mins. Whatever...
  12. I think there is no doubt about the first group, those who would receive their letters with funding(though very few according to my friend from SIPA last year). However, I'm still curious about the second group. what's taking them so long with these people? If 60%of letters can be sent in 2 days in the first wave, then technically it should have taken them half a day to send the rest... I was afraid if some of the rest 9% were on the strategic wait list---meaning, when someone from the first wave turn down SIPA for funding from other schools. We o fill in many new waitlist places to ensure SIPA's enrollment for the fall....If that's the case. I'm very sad with what they have decided to do to us since every candidate should be treated equally. Anyway, that's just the worst guessing.
  13. I mean today if according to the Chicago time.
  14. I called,Ms. Decarlo wasn't kidnapped or anything...she said they are aiming tmr. so ...and still sending both ad and rejs.
  15. 10% left? have they sent out all the decisions with $?
  16. why they have to keep the rest 19% for so long...
  17. It's so cruel if they kept file till the last minute and tell me that I'm rejected. I'd rather be in the first wave if that's the case...lol
  18. SAIS has much better location and alumni resouces, plenty of lectures meeting famous economists and officials in DC. And cheaper. While Harvard is usually a dream. You wake up from the dream when u graduate.
  19. Most HKS students return to their home country to become activists or policy practitioner. If you aim to return to your own country after grad this is definitely a great program. But INGOs like definitely favor students from schools such as SAIS, GSPP, Sycracuse and even SIPA and Fletcher. Kennedy's curriculum seemed a bit theoretical and general without much focus on quantitative methods or policy analysis, yet these training are highly valued by world bank, IMF and consulting firms in their first year analyst. Btw, HKS is a huge investment. It suits those people who have already achieved some success in their career. The Mason program is such program for mid-career which is usually fully funded. After all, it's all about being harvard alumnus that is appealing to most people. But why spend that much money on a two yr program which is not as competitive as other cheaper ones when u have full other opportunities to come back for mason program yrs later.
  20. If it's JD at Harvard then I think u should definitely choose harvard. But mpp at Harvard and IR program in DC with joint degree in law, I'd think u should give it a second thought. DC is the place full of miracles. When I interned there, both policy and legal people told me that network is the greatest advantage about studying in DC. Besides, DC is famous for job opportunities in both legal practices and policies. In this case, a year IR study in the top program in DC definitely worth more than one year study at Kennedy where most of your classmates would end up returning to their home country and serve as activists or policy practitioners.
  21. Yeh...can anyone in the U.S. give them a call and check if the rest 17-19% still exist?---Maybe they were stolen by some aliens or blown away by the wind... It's such a long wait though. the blog says some waitlisted candidates would hear back from the school in early April. will we be able to get our decisions before the waitlisted candidates get theirs? Or maybe the reason why ours are kept for so long is that we o take the waitlist places when the early waitlist people are admitted off the waitlist??? endless guessing...
  22. MIA International here, did not apply for the IFP, wonder what's taking them so long with the rest 19%. ...sigh...
  23. lol,i think the point is would u be courageous and brave enough to wait till the May 15th while turning down many other offers~~~ the chances of getting in off the waiting list is simply too small. People would rather go to Kennedy even by selling their house or probably their parents' house~~~~~lol Obviously, they are not offer much scholarship as wws does, and the trend is many other policy schools are much more generous and less expensive than Kennedy, that's why they also offer many waitinglist each year.
  24. for those who are still anxiously waiting to hear back, decisions are on their way, good luck everyone: The Admissions Committee continues to read/review at a fast and furious pace but we are happy to be nearing the end of the review process. No decisions went out on Monday but our hope is to start publishing more today. As always, check here for updates, however we cannot tell individuals when their decision will be ready to view. I do want to provide those who have been admitted with a few reminders and give insight to those still waiting of what lies ahead in the future if you do receive an offer of admission.
  25. I heard from ksg graduates that only around 15-20% of international students get funding from the school. So candidates are encouraged to look for resources outside the school. Besides WWS, which offers almost all of its students with funding, I heard the most reasonable program for international students is mpp at GSPP, they offer student a variety of resources like TA and teaching positions for undergrads. A friend of mine who graduated from GSPP last year said that two years study and accomodation only cost her around half the tuition. She worked in a teaching program for undergrads...though. Btw, it seems students from GSPP and SAIS have greater chances of earning their tuition back by getting into organizations with better pay, like the world bank or even ibanks. two friends graduated from GSPP, both offered internship position at the World Bank after their first year. And two of my friends graduated from SAIS are working in Morgan Stanley ... On the contrary, KSG graduates seemed to have fewer chances of getting opportunities in these areas. instead, most of the KSG people go back to work for government in their countries or in non-profit organizations...One reason for this difference is probably that MPP at KSG is less quant oriented than the ones in GSPP and SAIS. At KSG, people are encouraged to become reformist and activist in political events rather than in research or business field.
