  1. I can't really help you on the CUNY vs OSU issue. What I can tell you is that if you go to work first and reapply later, you will have a harder time getting good LoRs from people you worked with and studied under during your MSc, especially if you didn't cooperate closely with them. Keep that in mind before making your decision.
  2. This is either an extremely elaborate trolling post, or a person who, in no way, deserves to study at UMD. If you got into academia for the prestige of having a "top-5 school" moniker next to your name, then you got in for the wrong reasons.
  3. Yup. SUNY and its faculty have generally given me the impression of a very organised and communicative university. This certainly counts in their favor in my decision process .
  4. Received mine today as well .
  5. I've been talking to professors at SUNYSB and heard the same thing. They will be on spring break next week. I've received an official acceptance email, but still no graduate packet in the mail (but I do live in Greece).
  6. That's my opinion of them as well! Very strong in the CG area, some great professors, access to nice hardware and they seem to be very eager to communicate with students! I'm torn between SUNY (for CG) and Rutgers (for Systems)!
  7. I've had a co-student get accepted with a fellowship, (we are from Greece) but his application was pretty top-notch.
  8. I applied and still waiting on them. Status on the applyourself site is: And has been that way since December.
  9. Got mine a couple of days back as well. TA + small fellowship and option for a summer RA. Pretty good.
  10. "Insufficient academic qualifications" is in no way an explanation for why your app was rejected. "Low GRE scores" is. "Inadequate CS background" is too. "No research experience/publications" serves as well. "Insufficient academic qualification to succeed in the program" is a rude way to say "You are not good enough for us", and on top of it all there is NO way they can tell whether your credentials are good enough for you to SUCCEED in a program. A slightly better worded reply would have been "Insufficient academic qualification to warrant admission to the program". In any case, I really hope this was a mistake on part of the admission commitee (and considering that the early rejects were far better worded, I think it is).
  11. I got a rejection during the first wave 5 days ago: I think the admissions comitee was in a better mood then (Credentials: GRE Q750/V560, GPA: 7.5/10.0 from a good Greek University, 9 months of research experience in graphics, some research experience in systems, TAship for a CG Course during the Fall semester, no publications).
  12. I'm still waiting on MIT Media, Caltech, USC, UMD and UCI... Who knows what they are up to...
  13. Can't help you with your choce that much. My dilemma at the moment is between SUNYSB and Rutgers I was wondering however, what sort of stipend have you been offered at SUNYSB? I haven't received an official offer yet, but a professor I was emailing with told me that TA stipends are in the $15k range. In contrast with Rutgers, where the TA I've been offered is $23k for each academic year.
  14. I'm waiting for my rejection too. They send some admits way early in January (a friend of mine got his on Jan 28 or something), so I assume they've pretty much wrapped up their process up to now.
  15. I got a rejection email from GATech today.
