  1. Congratulations to those of you who have been promoted thus far! That is such wonderful news and I hope we can keep hearing back. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for Morocco.
  2. I was asked to provide a photo. I thought it was odd at first and inquired with others about it. However, I received a grant to teach English a few years ago and it was mandatory to include a passport-size photo with the application from the outset. In addition to every other application I had to fill out in France (for my carte-de-sejour to my rent application to my bank account application). I printed about 8 to 12 passport-sized photos! I imagine the Commission is requesting we do this since they abide to a similar system. It is unfortunate that a number of cuts have been made. If the Moroccan FB Commission were still funding 21 awardees today, we would all be preparing to move as opposed to lingering in hopes of being the lucky 1 or 2 in what seems to be a long list of alternates. Keepin' positive!!
  3. Thanks for joining the forum and posting! Interestingly, I've not come across anyone who has been awarded a full research grant to Morocco. Have you? Normally university's post such information on their websites. Did you apply for an ETA or for a full grant (I'm guessing full since you responded to my thread). If there are any other alternates to Morocco lurking please post so we can at least give each other an idea of how long the list is.
  4. Congrats to all of the ALTERNATES being promoted to primaries! It's such good news! I'm not sure if the individual managing the spreadsheet is still on this forum but it would be great to add this to the sheet. Also, any ALTERNATES contemplating reapplying, and if so, are you starting the process now? I'm wondering about reaching out to my contacts in Morocco, primarily those that supported my work, notifying them of my status, and asking them to support me again if I don't hear back.
  5. I think Alternates that are promoted to principle status should report it on the forum so that we can record it on the spreadsheet. This way (if we need to apply again next year) we'll have a better picture of what our chances look like (and just our of curiosity ). I know two years ago several ALT were moved to principle status. However, given the recent budget cuts, I would not be surprised if the opposite were true!
  6. Hey CouCous90, check your inbox if you see this message!
  7. FYI: Did a little research and so far have counted 4 people on the alternate list for a research grant to Morocco. (Not ETA).
  8. Kerly_Cue: Thanks so much for the perspective! I agree with you in that I rarely add anything to my CV that I have not been fully awarded. After reading your response and contemplating it further, I agree that it makes sense to list it under my honors in my CV. The FB is such an enduring and overwhelming process and being an alternate is an acknowledgement of that, and I'm glad that I am able to put that down so others are also aware of the work and diligence I am capable of. Keeping positive in hopes that the status changes!
  9. I have never contemplated this before but saw it mentioned earlier. Are alternates including this info in their resumes/CVs? I'm not quite sure how effective it would be to state that you applied for a Fulbright but were granted alternate status? Thoughts on this? Of course, if granted a Full/ETA fellowship, I can see why it makes sense to include it. What do people think?
  10. Congrats!!! Were you notified via email or phone?
  11. Maybe we'll both get it. At the same time, a fellowship to Palestine is not something you can easily disregard. There's a lot happening in the region and one can't predict what the future there will be. Congrats!
  12. Alternate to Morocco! (Full) Keeping positive. Hoping to get it so I can temporarily defer my grad school plans!
  13. I'm sure we're next! Today, tomorrow or Friday. Trying to keep myself hella busy! Bonne chance!!
  14. Really? Wow...good thing I heard early last year. Would hate to have to wait that long again. But I guess many of us are/will be waiting longer.
  15. It can be the case that we won't hear back this week, however, MENA people are sent to DC for orientation. Therefore, I'm thinking that they'll have to spend at least a few weeks organizing travel and hotel arrangements, which means that they should get back to us relatively soon. I am being hopeful here and perhaps looking way too much into this.
  16. What country did you apply to or are you waiting to hear from? I get the sense that we'll find out this week for MENA regions.
  17. This is definitely a delay from previous years. Last year we had news by this date. Oh well, what's another few days of being extra productive in an effort to avoid stressing out about future plans.
  18. It's interesting that those of us still waiting don't even need to open up the email to know what the results are: if we see (PR) in the subjectline, then we know we are accepted. If we see (ALT), we know we are alternates, and if we see nothing, I guess that means we are rejected. Or am I wrong? Have all email subjectlines included this info?
  19. I honestly thought we'd hear sooner. This time around last year notifications were already sent out. Maybe this is why we're not hearing until the end of April. He'll be out and we'll just have to wait. Thankfully, I don't have to notify grad schools until early May!
  20. no, but it is always double the #. so if there are 12 fellowships, they probably sent 24 ranked applications. and i'm guessing 6 get alternate positions (probably ranked) and 6 get rejected.
  21. Wishing I would have applied for an ETA position. Unlike those of us who applied for full fellowships, if you applied for an ETA and get listed as alternate, your chances of getting placed somewhere are much higher for you than for us. We only get promoted from alternate position if another person rejects their full fellowship. I strongly believe we'll hear back next week! Keeping fingers crossed!! Almost there...
  22. I really doubt we'll be waiting until the end of the month. I'm guessing next week the latest.
  23. es90 Did you apply for a Full Fellowship or an ETA? That may also have something to do with it. They may handle/organize matters differently depending on the type of grant that you applied for.
  24. I also got that email. I honestly think it was sent to everyone. You probably didn't get it because it went to your spam folder, but if you don't trust that you should definitely check with Jermaine Jones.
  25. CousCous90 - I don't want to influence your thinking on this since I can only speak from my experience. My impression is that if you are a finalist, that means that they were impressed with your proposal. Establishing a number of affiliations can work against you and not establishing a single one definitely weeds you out (perhaps, unless you proposed for an ETA. I think they request that you not establish any). You have a contact that has expressed a willingness to work with you, and that's great! If you did not see a need to do University work and your project is solid enought to be carried out without that type of engagement, then I don't see why it would be an issue. I think they also look at the entire application. Do you speak French and Arabic? Do you have some knowlege of the culture, etc... Again, this is my perspective, and these things are a shot in the dark, really. If we are rejected, it can be from something totally unexpected. This is why I think we can't take these decisions personally, and if we are rejected, I say, apply again! Thanks for calling! Keeping my fingers crossed in hopes that we find out next week!!
