  1. I also applied to both schools (though I'm in at SIS and wait listed at Elliot) and I'm curious to know how their recruiting compare. I'd be working while attending but I'm interested to learn whether both schools tend to pull from the same fields (say heavily public sector where I am today) or one maintains an edge in pulling from the private sector (my interest).
  2. I will be sending those that wrote my LOR's hand written thank you letters. I almost always communicate electronically, but this is one of those times a hand written letter is best, IMO.
  3. I work with the federal government and I know plenty of people that went to school far away from DC (Tennessee, Ohio, California) and landed great gigs with me. Government jobs have less to do with networking and more to do with plugging away at those openings on USAjobs.gov
  4. Posted some of this elsewhere but I got my "acceptance" letter in the mail on Monday. Basically accepted to the Intl Econ Rel. grad certificate program for Fall and the M.A. program for Spring provided I maintain a certain GPA. Let that be a lesson for you little ones to hit the books in undergrad as my college GPA was pretty weak. I was likely saved by decent GRE, great work experience, strong recommendations and statement of purpose. In the mean time, I'm wait listed for GW ESIA and have yet to hear from GMU. I'm a little annoyed I likely won't hear from GWU until weeks after the 4/21 deadline to respond to AU.
  5. I was placed on the waitlist for ESIA. Accepted to AU SIS and need to respond by 4/21. ESIA say they will give definitive answer by 5/21. Very politely said the same when I asked for expedited decision by the April date. May take the SIS option since I believe they're on par (not sure though). However the SIS is basically a probation (Grad Certificate for a semester since my college grades weren't great), but I don't believe I can ask for an extensions. Haven't heard from my safety (George Mason).
