  1. Huge congrats Monster, that's awesome!
  2. Or, as my dad says, getting a PhD is just getting "Piled Higher and Deeper." He's been working on a (non-history) PhD for something like 9 years now.
  3. I just finished Heretic Lives - a little misleading, because its actually just biographies of a few important Medieval heretics, not about the lives of actual heretics at all. Oh well - husband bought it for me at a used bookstore, and he had the right idea.
  4. I like talking about Medieval history! Not so much football, but I'll talk Flyers hockey. Or Phillies! Actually, its much too late for me to be commenting about anything.

  6. Big congrats! I live in Philly right now and its a great city. In other news, does anyone know what to expect from NYU this month? Do you think acceptances/waitlists have all gone out?
  7. I'm not a Spanish historian, but I LOVE this.
  8. Congrats! Couldn't agree more.
  9. About M.A. to PhD at the same school: I just got accepted to Fordham's M.A. program, and I won a distinguished fellowship for 4 years (the M.A. is only one year). They expect me to apply to their PhD program. I'm really thrilled, and I wish everyone else the best of luck. Its crazy how one phone call can totally change everything.
  10. Oh geeze - an NYU admit is up. Actually, 2 admits now.
  11. Happy Leap Day everyone!!
  12. His email also said that they admitted 6% of applicants overall this year, which makes it sound like they already admitted everyone. I have no idea though, and it does seem weird that there aren't waitlist people.
  13. I'm the medievalist who posted that I heard about my Columbia rejection from the director, but it was actually one of my POIs - I was confused about his position within the department. He said that official rejections would come in a few weeks but he just wanted to let me know that I wasn't in. I hope this helps.
  14. I'm one of the Columbia medievalist rejects. My POI said that they only gave an offer to 1 medievalist - what happens if that person doesn't accept? Does the school just not have a new medievalist that year?
  15. I'm kinda a lurker, and I've applied to Princeton and Columbia. Like everyone else, haven't heard anything from either.
